Bookies getting inside information on phone voting?
Jabber.wocky

During this years BB & CBB I cannot think of a single shock eviction ..... the bookies have been right every time

Courtney was topping every poll to be saved yet as soon as the lines open the bookies make her odds on favourite to go first followed by Louie as second favourite (Louise was a 10/1 shot before the lines opened)

Where are they getting their information from I wonder? ........ who's blabbing?

Think it's been since the move to channel five?

I have to agree, very suspicious! Most people thought Vicky was sure to go along with probably Courtney so how did the bookies know about Louie all of a sudden!

It's a cert OP. The odds for Louie leaving made no sense taking into consideration the crowd, views on here and views generally. Where would they have found corroborating evidence to get those odds Bets being placed by insiders and or inside info themselves.

Another thing was who was voting for Vicky to stay considering the overall negative attitude to her compared to Courtney or Louie. I really wonder if ITV would do this in order to make a Corrie star successful in a reality TV show Mad I know but Anthony Cotton though overwhelmingly despised on here and elsewhere did really well in IAC.

I know Vicky has left but maybe it's like corporate advertising. All very, very strange and though I MUCH preferred Courtney and Louie to Vicky and Mario I'm glad I didn't vote because there are clearly things going on that ordinary voters can't compete with

Why did they have Louis going? Genuine question I haven't kept up with the polls!

Channel 5 have been using MTV ads of Charlotte to promote Geordie Shore, though, which I also find odd.

Plus, Abz would have relations with ITV due to the Big Reunion?

You'd imagine that the type of people to place bets on these things are the type of people who watch and vote on the show

Whilst the bookies do seem to be unerringly accurate this series, if what you are suggesting is happening it would mean someone going to prison if they were found out.

I'm not sure the money involved would be worth it.

I was very weird how Louie dropped down in the bookies yesterday after being 2nd most likely to stay behind Carol in the bookies .

They were wrong about the Callum eviction. Although it was pretty close in the end, Hazel was still favourite.

They got the winner wrong quite a few times after it moved to channel 5 - CBB8, BB12, CBB9, BB13.

But they're starting to get the hang of it now - CBB10, BB14, CBB11.

Normally, bookies set their odds in response to the bets they've received, so that they do well no matter what the result is.

Suppose, for example, that someone with long odds wins -- a surprise, thought to be unlikely, winner. The bookies have to pay a lot to each person who bet on that outcome, compared to what the person bet. But (1) the odds will be long because relatively few people were making that bet, and (2) the bookies will win all the other bets on all the other HMs.

Since bookies tend to do well anyway, and since it would be very bad for them if they were found to be cheating, and since inside info might be misleading or wrong, I think it's unlikely that they are using inside information to base their odds rather than basing the odds in the usual way on the bets they've received.

If inside information is involved, it's more likely to be people placing bets who are using it.

It is so weird though, Courtney was the online favourite on EVERY poll and this is vote to SAVE. Very suspicious that the bookies could just "feel" that she was the least popular, votes wise? Ahem.

As the partner of an independent bookmaker I think I may be better placed than some to clear this up. It's not the bookies that know anything, they are purely responding to the weight of bets. However the betting does indicate that someone knew something, and I think the person, or persons, in question are the people who monitor the votes. They are the only ones who would have access to the actual voting figures.

The people who work for the company that monitors the votes, and act on the insider information they have, are essentially robbing the bookmakers and robbing fellow punters on the exchanges, because they are not 'gambling' like the average punter, they are placing bets knowing the results, or likely results, going by current voting figures.

Betfair, the biggest exchange should look into betting patterns and report these punters to the police.

I don't find it that hard to believe that Louie went, not sure why people are so shocked, he was last on here to save and 2nd last in all the other polls. I remember, I showed my friend the polls so he went and put in a big bet when Louie was 2nd fave to STAY, maybe a lot of others did the same? And that made him shorten? But I agree, looking at the polls for favourite since the beginning of CBB, Louie never seemed popular, he was always in the bottom 5. The people cheering him were basically the people who didn't feel the need to vote to save him.

And as I have said before, in a VTS, more screen time is good. But is bad in an evict vote. Vicky was featured heavily for a few days and she would have had the anti Charlotte and Carol fans vote to save her.

The only one I'm a little confused is Courtney. Now, I know polls have been wrong, but this one was very wrong. It would have been sort of like Charlie winning BB14 despite polling the bottom of all the save/win polls. But, I am not too confused because Tara Reid had the same, top of the save poll but ended up with the least votes even against Bobby who felt like he had no fan base whatsoever. American HM syndrome.

If Ashley Roberts can't win IAC, then no American will ever win BB or any contest here Ashley was topping almost every vote nightly, but when it comes to the final 2, the public will always vote the Brit, which is why Charlie Brooks won despite being in the Bottom 2 and being below Ashley in every vote in the last half of the series.

are'nt the people who monitor the votes ..independant from channel 5 ..i don't think channel 5 would risk it ..they would lose a lot more money in advertiseing revenue ..if this came to light ..as for on line polls ..there just a small number of the viewing public ..also id say a lot of the same people vote on all the polls

I'm thinking this Abz shortened from 25/1 on Friday when he was up on Saturday a huge fall to 4/1 he's now odds on to win I defiantly think he topped the vote last Friday
