What qualities does one need to exhibit to become a BB winner?

What is it about a BB housemate that will not only allow him to survive the process, but endear him enough to the voting public to raise the most votes to win?

Shilpa had and acted with dignity throughout her CBB experience and it was a very rough one for her.

1. A lot of luck. Someone can win one series who would have had no chance in another series. Brian Dowling is the only housemate I think would have won any series, and even that is not certain.

2. Don't get caught up in a 'nasty group'. You can either stay out or be a target, but you can't be one of the 'coven' of 'bullies'.

3. It probably helps to be quite good looking; you certainly don't have to be dazzling, but very plain looks seem to tell against someone.

4. You have to appeal to women, since they appear to be the majority of voters. Women (not surprisingly) don't tend to warm to women who are bitchy, predatory, or appear to look down on other women.

Be yourself, be honest, be fair, no obvious game playing, enjoy the experience and on your low times be honest you're feeling low and take yourself off somewhere in the house to get your head together.

The ability to stay cl;ear of any pack mentality forming is the main thing, so being self-reliant. Unfortunately if the force of a working twitter army can boost someone to success no matter what that hm's behaviour is like the programme is now pointless anyway.

This CBB seems to be a test case for that, because other than her huge twitter following, Charlotte doesn't look like a winner at all. People with a very strong 'anyone but...' tend not to win however popular they are. But 1.5 million is a lot of people; if they voted an average of once each, she would have it in the bag.

I would imagine a 10% vote will be enough on Final night. Voting can't be massive these days. The problem is what do they do next time? Only celebs with twitter followings within a similar range?

I guess people will still do it because the money is still good; it's not as if they are getting big celebrities. But if it turns into a twitter popularity contest it will surely shift the whole programme in a younger direction; maybe that is what they are hoping, but if so they need to bear in mind that young adults are a very volatile demographic, moving on rapidly to something newer and fresher, whereas older viewers tend to stay loyal to what they know.

Sounds about right Bev.

I guess people are heartened by a housemate's ability to maintain integrity, and, as everyone else suggests, this is always tested by the influences of other housemates, particularly the "in-crowd/pack" and the perceived reception from the voting public.

It changes, one year if your bitchy your out,the next its great,it depends if a certain demographic (imo housewives for want of a better word) like you or not, then anything goes it seems and there is no rhyme or reason..

Make me laugh and/or be brave and stand up to the nasties.

1) pretend you're not in it to win it
2) pretend to be a bit thick
3) don't do anything controversial in the first few weeks
4) try and come up with a catchphrase
5) be funny in the diary room

That ought to do it.
