Sharon's protection over Denny

Sharon overprotection of Denny is annoying and cringeworthy but you have to understand why she is.
Sharon wanted to be a mother for years and she was told that she could never have kids but there was a miracle when the impossible became possible when she finally got pregnant by Dennis.
Basically Denny is the only child Sharon will ever have and her only chance of being a mother so that's why she is so protective over him.

Denny is a miracle child.

Not to mention that his dad was murdered and so was her own dad. Sharon being an overprotective mother might be annoying to watch but its definitely within character and to be expected given her past.

If only this could be explored on-screen, she wouldn't come across so one-dimensionally bitchy.

Could Denny have been molested in america?
Might explain why she is so protective over him
Either that or he was in danger but was rescued and Sharon knows Denny is the closest thing to Dennis she is, so she must be as protective as possible over him.

I agree with everything, but she could let us know why, by talking to Ian her old friend!

She should be say exactly what you wrote!

He is a brat and should be slippered daily. Then he should be made to join the army.

I think the writers are trying to get the viewers to hate Sharon for some reason, otherwise it's just poor writing. Nobody likes Sharon on the whole square apart from Dot, who she is going to fall out with. Even Phil has had enough of her and clearly prefers Shirley, I find it very odd and I'll put it down to inconsistent writing, that Sharon hasn't payed Phil a visit in the hospital.

Maybe if she didn't over protect Denny then perhaps he wouldn't be such a brat!

Sharon having a kid has ruined her character . They should of said that the baby was stillborn or something . Sharon would of been a lot better without Denny

Denny has definitely been instrumental in Sharon's downfall but looking at next week's spoilers I think we are heading somewhere with this storyline...

That's what I am thinking, Sharon is having arguments with lots of people even her oldest friend Dot, we are heading towards something but with EE we just have to be patient in getting there.

I think they might be hadihng along the route that Sharon has to finally admit to herself that Denny might have a psychological problem.

Denny seems to be better with a male role model in his life. He seemed to improve when Jack or Phil were around for him.

I think this could well have caused his problems though. Three 'fathers' in a year is a bit much. She should think about how her lifestyle impacts on her son. She can't keep dragging him from place to place, and of course he's had to cope with her mood swings caused by her addiction.

Even though I am not a Sharon fan (and never have been) I am very sceptical about this type of storyline that suggests that single women are not capable of raising a son because it takes a 'male'/paternal rolemodel.

Yeah. Believing she is a great mother satisfies her. I agree.
