Carol: Uncanny Renaissance Lookalike

Maybe it's just me, but Carol is a dead ringer for Bruegel's painting "Dull Gret" (also known as "Mad Meg"):

According to wikipedia:

Griet was a disparaging name given to any bad-tempered, shrewish woman. Her mission refers to the Flemish proverb:
She could plunder in front of hell and return unscathed.
Bruegel is thus making fun of noisy, aggressive women. At the same time he castigates the sin of covetousness: although already burdened down with possessions, Griet and her grotesque companions are prepared to storm the mouth of Hell itself in their search for more.

What a great painting, just my cup of tea.

Kind of surrealist, can't believe it was painted in 1562!

More from wiki on Gret's startlingly similar character to Carol's: Dulle Griet appears as a character in Caryl Churchill's Play "Top Girls" (1982), where she recounts her invasion of Hell: "I'd had enough, I was mad, I hate the bastards. I come out my front door that morning and shout till my neighbours come out and I said, "Come on, we're going where the evil come from and pay the bastards out...'" ... In the play she eats crudely and steals bottles and plates when no one is looking, putting these in her large apron. Throughout most of the dinner scene, Dull Gret has little to say, making crude remarks such as "Bastard" and "Big cock". Her rare speech is coarse, reductive and amusing while her relative silence adds an element of suspense up to the point where she recounts the tale of his invasion.

Can't wait for the crowd to chant "Get Mad Meg out!" tonight...
