i relate to her because i am similar - i dont think anyone really bothers with me , find it hard to make friends etc and know if i was ever in love id be very insecure. thats why i always defend her.

when she said to jean men dont bother and would run a mile she was partly right - men dont bother. its very rare to find a guy who would be genuine and want to stick around (especially someone in jeans case) shirley didnt know ollie and with her track record with phil along with being upset at thinking he was paying her charity is justified imo

I happen to like Shirley as well, particularly her protective interaction with the original Ben, and now Jay and Lola.

In a lot of ways, Shirley is a softer version of Phil. I hope they get back together.

As I missed Friday's episode, I don't know what happened to shriely re. Carl. The last thing that I was the scene in the Vic where she calls a cab. If this as Shriley's last scene, it seems pretty clear that she simply went to Greece !
