When she returns she could become a legend if the writers carry her on like shes been this week

her return has got to be huge. its got to be get johnny week huge. the lengths they are going to keeping it a secret. theres obviously something huge going to happen and it will involve phil. theres no doubt he will be involved which means nothing long term can stick with sharon.”

So far this plot seems very similar to when Lucas kept Denise a prisoner, I'm not sure I could realistically swallow that happening again.

Can someone tell me why Max is in prison? I have missed recent episodes.

Shes got the perfect permanent exit. Being killed (?) by a man who knows se wont be missd as she was going to Greece with no forwarding address. She broadcast that all over the square while unwisely taking on a known dangerous man.

Its not worth Carl keeping her alive. He'd still have to clean and feed her. Much less fuss to sinply kill her.

Quote:
“what would make Shirley stay away from the square and Phil apart from death”

And Car realised that hearing Kim witter on about "Burton nd Taylor". He couldnt take the risk of her coming back so she had to die,

Quote:
“Unless Shirley has a death wish, why would she wait alone in the arches for Carl particularly after she knows he tried to kill Phil, he's not going to think twice about doing it again.”

Because she is irredeemably stupid. She think she bested Phil becaused she stole from him while he was in hospital so her ego told her to take on Carl. She thought she could threaten and throw her weight around and he would gave in. But Carl is a nasty character.Probaby a multiple murderer. She met a biger bully then her.

Her grisly death is the right send off. She was a lowlife - a thief, an arsonist. Who used to big herself up by threatening others. She was eventually going to do it to the wrong person.

If the producers have any balls they will keep the perfect ending for the character. Both Paul Truman and Danny Moon met eerie starkly memorable offscreen deaths. The same should happen to Shirley Cater.

She had the perfect exit for her character,

No way was that her exit!! She was sitting on a chair ffs if it was her exit it shouldve at least ended in a fight with her trying to escape!'

Thoroughly enjoyable to see the two bit lush get what had been coming to her for years. The only complaint I have is that there was no horrible, violent scenes with her being mutilated on screen. That would have really set me up for the weekend.

I doubt very much Carl would keep her hostage, it just isn't juicy enough or worthy enough. And there's no way that Shirley would leave certain belongings behind like photos of her and Heather etc

I really hope Shirley isn't dead. She has been an underused character and is brilliant when the storyline suits.

From the photo of Heather and her phone being ditched, it is pointing more towards Carl holding her away or him having bumped her off.

Question is, which is he more (or less) capable of doing?

And then there's the obvious 'No news on Linda Henry's exit', which points towards a hostage sort of situation, but as I don't want her to leave, I might be reading too much into certain things.

We should know more when Jay or Dexter revisit the Arches.

Yeah Max and Shirley scenes would be great.

Must admit I thought it was time for Shirley to go but she was absolutely brilliant this week.

Perhaps Carl gave her a severe beating to run her out of Walford.

Who is to say Max does get out in the near future, maybe they will have him in prison for a while to give Jake Wood a rest, (he is just on remand at the moment so he will have his chance at a trial) May be Ian cracks under oath and dobs Carl in, if Ian tells them he did it because Carl had threatened him them Ian wouldn't necessarily be in trouble, or more likely, Ian will go to the Police before that and confess he lied and why, given Carl's past history and many people knowing what sort of man he is then the Police would be on him like a shot.

None of which needs Shirley

When does Scott leave? Has the date been announced yet? I know he started in October 2007, so would that be when his contract runs out? If Jake Wood is back on screen mid October and "Jack" is gone by then, it's pointing to Ian cracking to me, but why would Jack leave when his brother is still in jail?

Unless Carl bumps him off, gets caught and confesses to the set up, the attempted murder of Phil and whatever has happened to Shirley, yet Carl is not leaving!

My brain hurts

Quite possibly

In fact there will be a nationwide outpouring of grief, just like The People's Princess back in 1997

I think Mona would be campaigning to have a statue of Shirley erected on the Fourth Plinth at Trafalgar Square if that were to happen!
