I can't stress enough that this is a soap and we are talking about the characters in a soap.”

I always say that but some things can give you nightmares

I'm well aware it's only fiction. I still don't like it when people laugh at TV violence.

I remember having nightmares after Richard Hillman in Corrie killed Maxine I'm all grown up now though

It's a piece of fiction and we really are allowed and should be free to say what we like about the characters. Like I said are the producers and writers evil for thinking up murder story lines and are all the viewers sadistic voyeurs for watching it

It's just a bit of fun

I was talking about people who take immense pleasure from seeing another in serious pain. Even if it is only acting.

A lonely, bitter, desperate, sour, friendless, spiteful, two bit lush who will die alone in the gutter (if she hasn't done already). Nuff respect to Carl.

What like mona did with Phil

It can be a form of release to relish great discomfort of a character we have grown to hate.

Why have you grown to hate THAT much?
I don't think she's that bad. She has her nice moments. Like helping Liam.

Shirley is not meant to be a hateful character. Shes meant to be sympathetic and has been through a lot. Phil has done some horrid things and hurts people constantly. We all know hes going to live where as we're not so sure with shirley

BUt even i wouldnt say ott things about sharon or carl. I should hate ben but i dont

What happened to Phil will be nowhere near on the same scale of suffering as whatever Carl has planned for Shirley, or what he's already done.
To understand what he's capable of, just remember Ian's hand.

I think he might have her tied up to plan and kill later. Which is when phil will rescue her

I wonder what he did her in with ? I'd normally assume half a brick or maybe a spanner while they were in the Arches. However, Carl looks a quality and imaginative villain. Got it ! ..... one of Shirley's own empty whiskey bottles. A bit like Bond villains, always trying to plan an amusing death for him. Carl, I salute you.

The answer is to cut back on the postings. Less typing means less sore fingers.

I guess if he strangled her, that would be a realistic outcome.

Why would Carl do this?

It means he has to find somewhere to keep her, he has to feed her and run the constant risk that she will escape.

And when he got fed up of holding her captive, what then? Surely he knows once he let her go she'd run straight to the police and he'd be back inside?

The sensible thing would be for him to kill her there and then. In the garage. there are lots of nice heavy spanners and hammers in there.

I can't imagine Carl would shrink from such an action - he seems to like hurting people.

Liking this. The spanners were very heavy, you say ?

Some people have suggested adam. The way carl spoke about her would be odd if he killed her. He didnt even tell ian shirley was fine to erase his suspicion

Shirley would see a heavy object. Shes too smart for that

There is a simple explanation for that phenomenon; it's called misogyny and it is widespread.
Only female characters get vilified to the point of 'inviting' their own death and inspiring sadistic fantasies about being murdered in the most horrific way.
Phil or Carl whose behaviour is a lot more repulsive/immoral than Shirley's don't get such a vicious treatment on this forum.

Exactly. People have felt sorry for phil being in hospital when we know hes not going to die.

If Carl hasn't killed Shirley, why would she just leave? unless he has done what Lucas did with Denise, and locked her up somewhere. I don't like Carl, smug git.
