Anyone missing The Bill?
Anyone else missing The Bill apart from me? it was the best police drama and its a shame ITV axed it in 2010
![]() Could it be within a chance it coming back to our screens in the near future?

I missed the Bill. Drama channel is doing a repeat run on weekdays but either too early or too late in the day. Love the characters and the stories even second time around.

Depends which era of The Bill you mean?
The Paul Marquest over the top soap plots with NotGabrielKent? No not at all. Like it was in the final months of the show? Oh yes very much. Sargent Stone was developing into a most interesting character. |

I particularly like it when Gina Gold was introduced. Over the top character I know, but fun.

I imagine the country's bit part actors are missing it massively. Now they're reduced to just playing serial victims in Casualty.

The move to 9pm killed the show, in my opinion.

Seeing the repeats on Watch have made me realise how good a programme it was and how daft ITV were to axe it.
They should've left it alone rather than trying to CSI it up and put it on at 9pm on a Thursday. The set still stands at Wimbledon Studios so who knows... maybe if enough of us sign the petition someone may take it on! |

I can picture Channel 4 or 5 buying it maybe. You've got to remember, the ITV have absolutely no regard for people's opinions, so even if loads of people wanted it back, they wouldn't do it. They're too busy producing TOWIE.

Yes I do really miss it and I hope it comes back one day. I've always thought Channel 5 should buy it. I'm loving the repeats on Drama - quality stuff.

The Bill was a solid show. I remember they had a male rape storyline with Mickey on it that was well done.

I do but it is probably best left in the past.
In an ideal world the BBC would cut dead horse Holby City. In it's place debut a new London based police show involving PCs, DCs etc. Seems daft they have three medical centered regular shows and another soap opera. Yet they have nothing involving PCs. |

Sadly I wasn't interested in the show whilst it was on but now it's been axed I realize how great it really was. It's a shame really because a good sum of the episodes are not available on YouTube and any Dvds are from the earlier series. I never knew about the repeats on drama though so thanks for that.

Would be great if Channel Four bought it.... CH5 wouldn't be able to afford to pay all the actors fees and the rent for sets though.

Was it axed because of ratings? if so do you think ITV caused the ratings by moving it to a 9pm slot, if so then I am mad as ITV should have kept the bill in the same timeslot before moving it
![]() Also anyone know if all the series will come out on dvd? going by from wikipedia, the bill have made 26 series in total

I didn't watch The Bill until about four years before it ended. I was hooked and loved it although the final episodes when it changed beyond recognition were a disappointment.
I have slowly managed to get all the episodes right from the first "Woodentop" and have loved watching, I'm now at series 10 and enjoying the early episodes more than the later ones. I would love to see it return but I doubt if it could ever be the same as many of the original actors would/could not return and if they did their characters would have lost their continuity. It would be very different and probably not so enjoyable. I'm also watching Prisoner Cell Block H for the first time and loving it, I've got to Series 31. I've read many comments and views about the new Wentworth and the general opinion seems to be that it is not as good as the original PCBH. Some feel it is a rip off and an insult to the original. I'm not going to watch Wentworth until I have finished watching PCBH. The Bill has been gone for a far shorter time than PCBH but I have to wonder if it could ever regain what made it so popular when it was originally broadcast. |

Just bought the very 1st series on dvd, however are all series out on dvd? will all 26 series will come out?
I looked on amazon and it seems confusing as to what's come out as the boxset goes like volume 1 for example and that's season 4. ![]() Luckly I found season 1
