Since earlier this year, I've been on/off with my own viewing of EE, but whenever I've seen it, you cannot deny how bad Sharon has been in virtually every scene she's been in. The responses to Sharon's 'downfall' have been different; some like myself are disappointed in TPTB's mistreatment of the character, others seem to almost be glad this has happened to Sharon, and feel that she should leave, and her character is irrelevant.

Those who want Sharon gone, and feel that other characters are better her probably won't be interested in the topic of this thread: whether Sharon can comeback from this ruination. Technically, she can IMHO because if Kat can, if Shirley can show some promise (and Shirley doesn't have that many links on the square) then Sharon can. However, I'm unsure of whether DTC will have much time for the character of Sharon; I think it's a given he will continue to develop Ronnie, and most probably Lauren who they see as Stacey 2.0.

I think if TPTB aren't interested in Sharon being apart of the square's future they should at least give her an exit worthy of the calibre of character she is. But you do think there's any chance that an exit can be averted and Sharon's character fortunes can be revived?

As you know, I'm not a big fan of Sharon's , but that doesn't mean I don't want her character to succeed and establish her place on the Square. For this to happen she needs to show some weakness and be humbled to some extent and her upcoming s/l with Denny is a perfect way of getting her to open up and admit that she is struggling. Not just with Denny but with her drug addiction and loneliness.

I don't agree with fans who say just putting her in the Vic and giving her status is the answer. Until the barriers that she has built up over the years are broken down I can't see people warming to her.

I really hope so, Sharon is a character deeply rooted in EastEnders history and is no doubt one of the show's most poular and iconic characters. The writing for her has been shocking and TPTB have preferred to ignore history in favour of new characters etc. I think personally that the stuck up cow act regarding Denny is story building- Denny will eventually do something that will damage Sharon emotionally (it may even involve Dot considering Sharon falls out with her). Sharon needs a story- atm she is treated a little better (or worse, depending how you look at it) than Winston or Tracey.

As you said, Kat and Shirley have flourished in recent months so I think its fair to say that Sharon can come back from this. But in the liklihood that EE returns to being the Ronnie show, I think Sharon will be sidelined for her (especially since Ronnie was a DTC creation).

I mean look at the pill story- abruptly ended after Sharon came back from America and swept under the carpet, probably not to be mentioned again

If Kat can be repaired so can Sharon but DTC needs to come out and confirm this.

I dont think of any us Sharon fans foresore how bad this stint would be when she returned last year.

I really don't know if there is a way back for Sharon, she's been written into a corner. Many of us hoped she would become the new Mitchell matriarch, however, her association with that family has been entirely dropped because Ronnie is back in the picture. She is currently left with very few ties to the Square; in fact Ian and Dot are all she has left, and she's allegedly going to fall out with Dot in the upcoming weeks.

I do hold out some hope that they can rescue her; after all they've done a great job with redeeming Kat who was insufferable until very recently. Now that the Mitchell connection is dead and buried, I think the only way forward for Sharon is to integrate her with the Beales, starting with bringing back a re-casted Vicky. Then perhaps introducing some of Sharon's biological siblings down the line; we know that she has at least two blood siblings from her mother. I'd also love to see her back in the Vic, but lets face it that's not going to happen any time soon.

DTC should make rescuing Sharon a priority - she's far too important a character to let go. As things stand, Sharon won't last beyond next Spring.

I'd have called Shane's bluff and kicked Alfie out of the Vic. Having said that, I wouldn't put Sharon in there straight away as I don't feel that in her current state, she could run it. At the moment, she'd be too snobby. But I would like her back once Sharon has mellowed

Is DTC a Alfie fan?

I don't know. But he is a Mitchell and Sharon fan so he could want one of them back in the Vic

I don't think Alfie will be in the Vic much longer. After all, he is not even in charge any more, Roxy is. When he inevitably dumps Roxy for Kat, do you think Phil is going to see his own cousin out on the street? No way. Roxy will be staying put.

It can happen for sure. She has been neglected so badly in the past year, it would make you wonder how they convinced Letitia to come back at all. I can't imagine Newman in her meeting "Right Letitia, well have a huge summer of love and warmth in Albert Square. Basically you will figure into this....quite little actually, but we will allude to you having a serious drug problem. Your working hours will be minimal, we're going to pair you up with Ava, and all you need to do is wobble your head, pout and pop your eyes out a bit, whilst being a high and mighty cow about your son and looking down your nose at the other ladies of Walford"

This time last year, people were saying Kat was destroyed forever. Oh she will never come back from this. Kill her off now. She's finished etc. Now look at her, they can do the same with Sharon. Give her a proper storyline with meaning, that gives insight to the character. Have her connect with other characters again and most importantly, the viewers.

Roxy will want to move in with ronnie if they are at phils

One of the first things DTC will be asked when he gives an Interview on here will be Sharon.

SarahdCahill recently posted a thread on Sharon and said that she had briefly met Letitia at Elstree and Letitia was pleasant enough to say that 2014 would see a turnaround in Sharon's fortunes.

DTC work will not hit the screens until the New Year anyway.

I'm glad this week has shown a meaner, more manipulative side to Alfie. I think we all know he has been stringing Roxy along since day 1, probably hoping he will get over Kat and love Roxy in the same way. But it hasn't happened and won't happen either.

He is out of order telling Roxy to choose, and for her to choose him, only to be dumped a while later. I hope we see Alfie get a bit of backlash for a change, hopefully from Ronnie and the Mitchells. I think the Kat and Alfie era in the Vic is over. Kat hasn't lived at the Vic for months, and Jean is going next week. If they are looking to rebuild the Mitchells, I'd say put them back in the Vic.

Well Letitia said she has some storylines lined up in 2014 and she's excited etc. When Letitia said she will be busy, I think she was talking about Sharon's storyline with Denny. She did not give out any spoilers etc. I do not know anything else but all I know is that Letitia said Sharon will be more prominent soon.

It seems to me that Letita is looking forward for DTC's storylines for Sharon as DTC's storylines will be shown in 2014. But I desperately hope Sharon can be "repaired".

Possibly you're right but I think Sharon and Phil are going to be busy as Letita said she's working with Steve McFadden a lot. I have no idea how long that will last lol. Maybe it's a weeks worth of episodes ha.

Well theres nothing in the spoilers about them yet but its bound to be into the shirl stuff i can so see him choosing to find shirl instead of being with sharon

They are filming halloween at the moment I read the other day.
I think soon they begin filming 8 weeks in advance, to allow for Christmas and extra episodes.

Maybe Phil won't know about Shirley because he thinks she's in Greece. I think Linda is having a break for a couple of months like last year. I have no idea lol. But yes Phil should be involved in Shirley's return (if she's returning). I miss Shirley already.

Ronnie and Roxy were created by DTC so I think he's going to look on them more fondly because he is more invested in their characters.

That being said, he'd be a fool not to recognise Sharon's heritage on the Square, but I just don't think Letitia is strong enough as an actress to pull of a big storyline at the moment. They tested the waters with the pill addiction storyline and she was frankly terrible in it. It doesn't help that the writing hasn't been great, but DTC has more experience in this area, so I'm expecting an improvement in the writing for all the characters in his era.

But I think Sharon fans need to start getting used to the fact that she isn't the saviour of the show. She has history in the Square and she has had more than her fair share of moments, but right now the character is weak, so it's time for other characters to take the lead.

in his recent interviews he was talking about the previous stuff in the past year. but i wouldnt be surprised if there was sharon/phil stuff in the build up to shirls return. i think theyve been hinting at it since sharon returned
