So after a long break it's back! Yes DS' #1 forum game is back and ready to reclaim it's crown. Last week we saw an emotional exit for Belle Amie who surprisingly fell into the bottom 2 with team mates District 3. However, they weren't the lowest ranked, Rick took it upon himself to salvage District 3 with whom he thinks he can go further. What he right? Let's find out - bring on the acts!

Soppyfan and the last Over:
Brad Shackleton

fireemblemcraze and the last Boy:
Jake Quickenden

EndOfSanity and the Groups:
District 3
Poisonous Twins

Pingu58011 and the Girls:
Diana Vickers

Who will make it to the semi final? Only one way to find out. Let's start up the live shows!

Judges are you here?

Here, but Belle Amie aren't.

I will be doing my comments on the fly, which seems fair considering the song list was sent out so late and I also have votes coming in for The Mix Factor (which y'all should VOTE on by the way ).

First act up tonight fittingly is Jake Quickenden who topped the vote last week! Will the comeback kid continue his winning streak all the way into the final? Who knows. But he's up now with his round 1 performance for the theme of 'Summer Tune' he's covering Parachute - but will he need one to save him tonight?

Jake Quickenden: - Parachute - Can't Help:

Note: Released 4th June, insanely upbeat and something you could dance too - great summer tune.

Jake, sorry I don`t think I liked that. It sounded way too american, and I don`t think it suited you overall. Some bits I thought were good for you, but others weren`t. We all have a lot to prove tonight, as it is the quarter final. I will probably be on my own here, but you need to come back with the second song!!!

Hmm, Jake I felt that it was an okay song choice and that it was all good. However, it didn't feel like it was you and I feel a little disappointed with the performance. I really want you to come back with a much better second song, cause you have been very strong from the beginning. Not a good opener, but I still have faith in you.

After 'losing' my D3 boys last show because they sang a song with too much rock and Americanism, I'm genuinely afraid for you Jake. This song had the exact same problem, it was slightly too rocky for you and also too American. Perhaps the public have come to their senses after what happened to D3 last show, but I wouldn't count on it. Anyway, I can see that this was a somewhat rushed song choice as it's not the best performance you've given. It wasn't terrible in my opinion, even though I personally wasn't getting the 'summer song' vibe off this song (and 4th June isn't summer yet either)...

Enough nitpicking already, this was a good opening to the show, but I sincerely hope that you'll blow me away with your other song.

Jake

*standing ovation*

Great work boy! That was so full of energy and I felt like getting up and doing the salsa Ė it was that energetic! You are amazing. What a way to start the show! This suited the theme of summer tunes perfectly Ė capturing the excitement of summer and how fun it is. I really want people to vote for you because we genuinely have so much to give in this competition!

What on earth is everyone talking about? Rushed? I spent a good time looking for this! And rock? It's by a rock band, yes, that doesn't mean it's rock - it's pop rock! Just like my last song. Same direction. Just cause it has guitars and drums in it - oh rock!! The vocals matched, it captured the excitement of summer perfectly. More tactical commenting...Steve didn't even say what he disliked about it. Rick's nitpicking and Pingu hasn't said one good thing about Jake since I entered into the competition.

And this is slightly infuriating further reinforced by the fact that Jake is slightly rock in the first place. I'm not doing rock for the sake of it - I'm choosing songs which fit my act's vocals. At least the song fit the summer excitement/clubby/dance aspect - most of the songs were only chosen based off date (and 4th June isn't summer??? )

All right, you win. Writing comments on the fly isn't easy, and my comment came across harsher than I meant it to be.

So rather negative comments for Jake there, hopefully his second performance can regain his crown. Up next it's Poisonous Twins who have the accolade of being Rick's only act to have next been in the bottom two, can they continue it?

Poisonous Twin - All Night by Icona Pop
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVt4usL2lyA
Note: Released in July, thus relating to the theme via release date.
Staging: The Twins will start this performance on top of a colorful little bus and a sunset road backdrop. They will sing the first verse on top of the bus before jumping off to join the 20 dancers below when the vocal-less segment starts. They will use this segment to make their way to the front of the stage. Once the Twins get there, a giant disco ball will descend from the stage and the stage goes darker while more spotlights go on (simulating night). The dancers will then rip off the suits and dresses they wore up to that point to reveal their party clothes. The Twins will remain in the front for almost the entire performance, although they will move on top of the judges' table for the final segment without vocals as well as the final few lines.

Spoiler

Ooooooh girls! What a performance and a half! This definitely had the feel of Summer, especially when it's at a night time. The song was fun and upbeat to get on stage and dance away. You have been a really fun duo and I hope your second song will show how great you are at being versatile! Well done to you both.

Very predictable for you girls, but I thought it suited you very well. It was fun, and I loved the staging, and it was very creative. You are definitely one of the front-runners in the competition at the moment, and I can`t wait to see your second performance!!!

Poisonous Twins:

Wow this was really suitable for you. It suits your style. And it suits everything to do with your vocals. But to be honest, in terms of song choices you have been on a different level on previous games. Tonight I thought it was too generic a song choice compared to all the wonderful quirky things you do. But I think the public will like it definitely.

Everyone loves a bit of Icona Pop, and I figured they were the perfect artists for you to sing a song from this show. They've got that quirky pop sound, which fits you beautifully. I expected someone to play the predictable card, but Icona Pop aren't an immensely popular act so it's fine in my book. You are amazing girls, keep it up!

Nick, I've added the staging. From one comeback kid to another, it's time for the Overs to rock the Stage! Brad was eliminated and then saved by his mentor - he's hoping to repay him by getting to the semis! Can he do it?

Brad my rock star, we went for a different method this week and you certainly got me feeling all Summer inside even though it's now ended and it's Autumn time. Anyways, it was a great performance and it reminded me of a summer event where people can just lay back and chill in the sunshine. But your second song that we're excited about will make everyone go wow and they need to vote for you.

Brad:

Brad I didnít really feel this song choice. I normally really enjoy you. But Foo Fighters? You donít have quite the same tones. Also I didnít think that the best choice for a summer tune. I know the theme is up to interpretation but I didnít feel the energy and excitement. While the song was released in summer and it has 'summer' in its name, itís a bit of a cop-out considering the song doesnít remind me in any way of summer. Thereís so much more you can do with a theme like this then just the fact that a song was released in summer! This song hasnít captured neither sweet relaxing beautiful nature nor the energetic clubby fun part of summer.

I don`t know about anyone else but I could barely here you over the music. Apart from that I thought it suited your voice quite well, but it was very predictable for you as it is quarter final and by such a well known artist.

Brad, you know I love you and I love Foo Fighters as well, but something didn't work for me here tonight. For some reason, this particular combination was lacking something in my opinion. I commend your mentor for picking a summer song with 'summer' in the title though, he's the only one who did that. This performance wasn't anywhere near as strong as your previous ones, it's like you've lost your momentum when the show lost its momentum. I really hope you can come back from this with your second performance Brad, as I want to see you do well!
