I'm from an art background and therefore I think visually. Or rather I have an art background because I think visually.
Besides, when those amazing memory people do their motivational/training type things, they always espouse visual ways to remember lists and stuff - which suggests it's easier in general to remember specific details if one associates an image with it.

Actually, they espouse connecting words with visuals, like singlefish with a single fish or sycamore with a tree.
Never works for me though, I end up with a head full of tomato soup and elephants and no idea what any of it's supposed to be about.
