It's enough to support the compulsory re-introduction of finishing schools if you ask me

Yep. Could have been so much worse. He seems to have learned from the retweeting of follow pleas. Hopefully he'll keep a closer hand on his phone from now on. Still, a chaperone wouldn't be a bad idea now, would it? What? What?

Just been catching up with all this. If that is all true then Nicky needs to be more protective of his own phone. Did he just willingly give his phone of one of his obsessed fans and they made all those tweets?

At least he's had the sense to delete them all but again if it wasn't him tweeting them, it's sad he's having to apologise of behalf of whoever it was.

It's a bit like the Facebook storm a few weeks back when someone made a massive deal over the "Nicky doesn't love his fans" and then seeing Nicky apologising because of a comment somebody else made. I felt this sudden urge to message him and say "you don't need to apologise because of some pathetic internet troll".

You're never going to pull Nicky looking like I now imagine you to look, Mister Italicface.

What, to keep a 'closer hand' on his 'phone'?

After he finished his Q&A (such as it was) and tweeted the obligatory 'OMGILYASM' tweet, there was another odd one that appeared which has now gone again, I wondered if we were getting round 2 and had the popcorn ready but it might just have been someone else taking the piss.

I can't believe this thread has reduced me to twitter stalking Nicholas McDonald

Very true. *Waves 'make xfactor 18+ banner again*.

Gurning, lol

I'm not certain but I think some of them might be the same ones in the video Luke (? now I'm wondering) tweeted, some of the usernames look vaguely familiar/similar IIRC.

Yeah, I thought the 'true' fans thing was so interesting, there was a lot of that the other night too. Strange thought processes these girls have.

I saw a tweet from one of the 'true' fans suggesting that the girls in the photos didn't even follow Nicky, so I wonder whether they were just fame-whores rather than actual fans. Back when I used to deal with them there always seemed to be a very small group of 'fans' who were at the studios every single week who seemed to be completely indiscriminate in who they threw themselves at. It always struck me that they were just enamoured with the fame rather than the particular person or what they even represented.

Let her go:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBumgq5yVrA

Some X-Factor versions:
Thomas Mann http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFYpgiv_vt4
Luke Friend http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4VRUgTkDQ0
Taylor Henderson X Factor Australia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jR2Nm1up2I

X Factor Israel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP8mks1XzIQ

Final Internet hit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQB7QRyF4p4

Back to Nicholas:

I won't give up

In X Factor

Sam Calahan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UomcGOW5HDk
Giles Potter at bootcamp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9KlJsL3HYU
Nicholas at bootcamp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R7SDW5X3R8
Nicholas "I won't give up" was, additionally to connecting the lyrics of the song, a cry for survival:
Look at Nicky just before and hugging after the performance of Thomas Mann:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Apz5kOzdgs

See what Jai Waetford (ended 3d in Australia) made of it in week 9:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yy-0xrfCgFg
He lost his concentration, but still survived for the final.
The members of the jury clearly help him with coming through.

I do think in some senses it's a shame Nicky never had to sing in a sing off. It would have given him a chance to sing something he wanted to sing rather than one of Louis' unimaginative choices and with the extra spark that acts often show when they're fighting for that place could have won back round some of the earlier fans that he lost along the arc of the live shows. The sing off worked very well for Luke with Run for instance - he won a lot of people over with that performance alone.

The bit in bold, where do you get this information from? Are they pre-order sales or something, or the sales generated in the last week. Eg; 454,767 people have pre-ordered Nicky's album.

I'm unsure what the figures for Skyscraper represent. Unless it's total sales since its release so it's sold 132,285 on Amazon in the last 5 weeks?

EDIT; Or is it chart position, so Nicky's album is now #454 (don't understand why it says 454,767 sorry )

I was the complete opposite in that regard. Luke's versions of Run, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, and Somewhere Only We Know were just a bit too gravel pit for my liking.

My favourite Luke performances happened to be from the live shows on the Saturday (like Kiss From A Rose, I Will Wait and Best Thing I Never Had).

I agree about Louis' ridiculous choice of songs like The Climb and Greatest Day. I don't think even the best singer in the world could make me like them songs, they're just too woeful and depressing to listen to.

...and here's the latest footage of Nick with some cray cray teenage girl asking him to say "Band Hoes".

LOL!!! No wonder he looks so puzzled and confused (possibly scared as well).

Actually his face at the end suggests he's getting fed up with them. Not surprised, I think I would be too.

Girl at the end "you don't know what we're saying do ya?".

Me "erm, he probably does but inside he's thinking HELP ME!!!!".

As I read it, as a raking similar to a charts ranking:
1 is the best seller for the moment
999.999 or 999,999 or 999999 is something like the worst seller for the moment

The amazon.com help function gives:

About Amazon Best Sellers Rank

The Amazon Best Sellers calculation is based on Amazon.com sales and is updated hourly to reflect recent and historical sales of every item sold on Amazon.com.

While the Amazon Best Sellers list is a good indicator of how well a product is selling overall, it doesn't always indicate how well an item is selling among other similar items. Category and subcategory best seller lists were created to highlight an item's rank in the categories or subcategories where it really stands out.

We choose a few of the most popular subcategories in which the item has a high ranking in relation to other items in that subcategory, and showcase the item's rank on the product page. As with the main Amazon Best Sellers list, these category rankings are based on Amazon.com sales and are updated hourly.

Note:
• For the Kindle Store, Amazon Best Sellers lists are divided into Top 100 Paid and Top 100 Free. Items in the paid best sellers list have a value greater than $0.00. Items in the free list have a value equal to $0.00. Both lists are updated hourly.
• For competitive reasons, Amazon.com generally does not publish this information to the public.

Ahh, I geddit (penny got stuck in the slot temporarily).

Band HOES. In other words, celebrity stalkers who just want to get as many famous people to say "love you Band Hoes". So as discussed in this thread in the last 24 hours, these girls probably couldn't care less about the people in question, just want them to provide silly video messages that mean nothing to anyone. Not even these girls considering girls change their opinions more times than they change clothes. LOL

1. Just kids who just want to make themselves interesting. Facing a celebrity is often a good moment. It has not much to do with the celebrity him/herself.
That happens everywhere almost all the time. I have seen some performers breaking of their show because of disturbances during their act.
It is an art of a professional peformer to deal with this and turn the interuption into a joke.
Or some consider it as a non-event as Richard and Adam did in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35tczLdFKmc
My fav illustration is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERSGZO2GKHo

2. Some who are fans of other participants may blaim Nicholas for the rejection of their heros.
I saw a lot of disappointment for not sending Paul Akister to the finals.
See Paul performing at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVxYy2lj4Os
This may be due to Louis, who combined him with Nicholas for a final selection.
From http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_YBYclwI3M
One gets the impression the guy was rejected mainly because of his appearance (overweight?)
His fans have been furious for several weeks end may blaim Nicholas.

Alejandro is a special case, since he lost his seat to Nicholas at the bootcamp show.

3. Kids often reject other kids when they are different.
Nicholas masters a Scots vocabulary and Scots pronounciation
So even at the X Factor shows one was joking with him (sexteen).
Cf. also the final interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clGmDP6aV9g
Personally I hope he never looses his Scots authenticity.

Wait, when did he do I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For? I have me memory of that whatsoever!

I agree Somewhere Only We Know wasn't good. But then I'd much rather hear Nicky singing that song anyway. Mind you Id rather hear Nicky singing Run too. Both are songs much better suited to the kind of souring, sonorous quality that Nick has in his voice. But Luke did do a good job on Run nonetheless. I'd say it was easily his best performance and I remember saying to my housemate at the time, despite my cynicism over Luke having been heightened by the Mumford and 1975 tributing, 'that was pretty ****ing good, actually'

How is Elyar Fox associated with X Factor? Apart from him and Nicky doing a gig at G.A.Y?

Not surprised in the slightest that his song has plummeted down so fast. It's not exactly a great song is it? Music aimed directly at the minority group.

Minority group? I don't think it's aimed particularly at the gays, if that's what you mean.

He may be somehow a competitor within RCA.
He is listed with them at:
http://www.rca-records.co.uk/
Nicholas is not yet.

Record companies plan releases in a way that one of their products does not cannibalize another from their portefolio.

Teenage girls is a great market to aim at, and that's where Elyar is aimed at.

Saying that, I'm quite at peace it's plummeted, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
