Dunno why it pisses me off quite so much when I'm not even going to the tour, but it was Luke's song in the final, they should leave it alone. At least if it's the three boys it makes sense. It's got to be a typo, surely? Surely???

I'll shut up about it now. I'll be over there in the corner, muttering bitterly.”

Yeah I saw from the Luke thread you were pissed off about it. I kind get it, as I'd probably be pissed off if they did it to one of the songs Nicky performed (unless it was something shit like Greatest Day, Sam B can holler theatrically all over that as much as she likes as long as I don't have to pretend it's anything other than technically impressive).

I imagine Luke will still be doing the chorus, i.e. the anthemic bit which suits him very well, and maybe the others will take a verse each or something (as those bits seemed like they were at the very edge of his range in the final). I don't know what the thinking might be, in all honesty. But I'm sure it can't be Sam B who's doing it with them. It surely must be Sam C. It would just be too incongruous for a 35 year old woman who looks ten years older to be singing/tedioulsy riffing about being young while wearing an 80s jumpsuit and brandishing her camel-toe.

If Nicky, Luke and Sam B were to do a song together it would make much more sense for it to be that Naughtyboy song they did at the start of the final. That worked well for all of them.

The Corner of Disappointment shall be my new remix name.

I still love Patti-Ann's suggestion of Candy, I'd probably pay to see the three boys take the piss out of that actually

I realised it pushed his range a bit, but I also thought it suffered from the shit sound production the entire final had (well the first night, I didn't really watch the second night because sulking). It's just that it was the one thing I associate with him for the final, and it's a shame it's being hijacked. I can live with it if it's Sam C though, and tbh I'm sure it is.

God, there's a quote that'll live with me forever

Mind you, I could watch a gif of her lumbering down that fireman's pole for hours.

Yes yes, *bitch face*, meh /care

That would make a lot of sense, it worked very well and was actually really surprisingly well chosen.

Maybe that's where the confusion's come in: Luke, Nicky and Sam B are doing that song again, and then the three boys are doing We Are Young. That would make sense?

If Nicky wasn't ill-suited enough to Candy, imagine Sam B doing it!

That's a good point, actually. None of them sounded their best that first night. Luke on those low notes, and Nicky's enunciation on Candy (which interestingly sounded much better on a crappy phone vid from inside the arena someone posted on here way back when).

Haha, yep, that was AMAZING. Whoever thought that was a good idea should have been fired. Presumably instead they were allowed to come up with Candy.

Yeah, I enjoyed it lots. Despite the rather dubious suggestive podium placing of all three (sam in gold position, Nicky in silver, Luke in bronze). And I didn't even like the song previously. Actually, there's a lot of group performances that I enjoyed more than many of the individual performances. As the weaker contestants went, they improved enormously. Shalamar was a lot of fun too, and with a star turn by Nicky

Maybe. I really can't think Sam B can be doing We Are Young. That would be ridiculous.

You know, it's just occurred to me, why is Answerphone called Answerphone? I've seen a couple of people suggest that it's a dated title in the age of the mobile. And actually, an answerphone is never mentioned in the lyrics, so they could have easily changed the title to 'voicemail'. Or 'skypeything'. Whatever it is that kidz are using nowadays (BBM probably)

Believe me, I actually am trying to imagine it. My brain is turning to cheese with the effort. God, I wish they'd inflicted that on her instead.

The sound was really poor throughout, look at the Killers, look at the whole thing. Not surprising the sound the actual venue was fine because it was very likely the arena's own sound crew managing it, but I bet anything it was the usual xfactor people working on the broadcast instead of people more experienced at working on events like that. It wasn't good enough.

The xfactor summed up perfectly in two sentences

I hate the concept of the group performances, but some of them were actually okay, yeah. Luke always shone in them too

Candy. Fireman's pole. Need I say any more?

BBM? You're so 2012

Yeah, I agree. I have a horrible feeling it's so the grannies understand what the concept is all about...

Maybe the kids who will buy it don't know what an Answerphone is so the title to them might just mean he wants her to Answer her Phone...

Haha. It did occur to me that maybe it was a clumsy attempt at a double meaning. It also occurred to me that maybe it was retro-chic, prompted by the success of the XX song VCR.

Who knows! Maybe it was just written ten years ago!

Whatever the reason, I think the title will be irrelevant to the people who buy it. People on the MF just like to pick holes in everything. A couple of weeks ago they were banging on about how he would be a dead cert to bring out an album of boring ballads, and now they're saying the single sounds so young and cbeebee.

Retro-chic, I love that phrase

Maybe, aren't the 80s supposed to be cool again?

God, I sound and feel so old

AHEM!!!

That "someone" was me. I was also really surprised by that clip because both Candy and the group performance of Lifted sounded better on the mobile phone clip than the actual ITV sound.

This is also interesting. Who was responsible for the sound at Wembley? It happened in 2012 when Jahmene & Nicole sang their duet, and Nicole's microphone wasn't working. Then during Sam & Nicole's duet we had the pleasure of hearing Jedward providing the ad libs. I suppose ITV don't care as long as they're getting all the revenue.

Yeah, I totally agree with you, some people were never going to like whatever he did (and likewise, some people were always going to). It's good that it's overcoming expectations, even if they hate it they hate if for completely different reasons to the reasons they expected to hate it for And there've been some unexpected positive responses.

Yeah good point about the mics, it would be very interesting to know who was responsible for that. And didn't Nicky have a dead mic during one of the chat links with him and Sam B? Though at least Sam B was generous enough to shove her mic in his face rather than do a Nicole *rolleyes smilie, come back rolleyes smilie, all is forgiven*

Were Jedward's 'contributions' to the duet audible in the arena? Or was it just on the broadcast? I'd be surprised if it was heard in the arena.

The thing is that venues vastly prefer to manage the sound for the venue (at least according to my friend who manages a good venue, though ofc nothing on the scale of the O2 who are probably even more insistent about managing their own arena sound), but they probably have little to do with the tv broadcast, and they won't have anything to do with the OB aspects of the show anyway.

Yeah, the sound will have gone through a completely different mixing desk I imagine. The requirements to make something sound good in an arena is completely different to the requirements to do the same on broadcast.
