DS ENDERS: EPISODE TWO (14/24):
Sorcha awakes and for a fleeting moment she thinks TK is still alive, hoping the events of last night were all a dream but reality sets in when she looks out onto the Square and sees people from the market laying flowers outside the pub. Priscilla comes in and offers a sympathetic shoulder but sorcha’s head is full of unanswered questions and she wants to know why?
Scrabbler is awakened by the nurses who have come into check on Angelic Princess. They tell him that she was very lucky that he didn’t hit any major organ or artery but she’ll have to stay in hospital for a few days while they look after the wound.
Janine visits dullagj2, feeling guilty that she gave him the money to get his fix. The state he’s in makes her feel even worse. He has the shakes and sweats but he tells her that this has been a wakeup call and he wants to get better, “They’re putting me on a methadone programme and are going to send me for counselling. I just hope I’m strong enough” he cries telling her that he woke up last night screaming for some and they had to induce him. Janine opens up about her battle with cocaine hoping to help him, “It was the darkest period of my life. I’d do anything to feed my habit and I even prostituted myself.” She assures him that he can come out the other side and she’ll pay to get him the best treatment warning him not to tell anyone “I’ve got a reputation to maintain.”
Dan awakes to find a note on the kitchen table from Bevis which states “I’m gone but what you did that night will never be forgotten by either of us.” Dan gets dressed hurriedly to see if he’s on his stall but is thrown when it’s not open. He heads to the café for a coffee before heading to see lotty.
Also tonight, Joyof_pat jokes that Zack is a dirty stop out when she sees him returning from a night out. Mo mouse taunts Shirley when he sees her in the gutter and says that it’s where she belongs. IanMandy think he sees Mandy on the market but is embarrassed when a stranger turns around. Scrabbler tells PrincessPerfect about the stalker and asks him she can do Angie’s job while she recovers, he notices vaslav who is smartly dressed for his interview and vaslav takes the opportunity to goad Scrabbler, “I’m going up in the world Scrabby baby.” Poppy feigns happiness when Fatboy accepts the job offer in Ibiza.
Scrabbler implores a bewildered Angie not to press charges against Gary. Explaining Gary’s predicament, he tries to get her round to his way of thinking, “I feel sorry for him and a part of me does feel guilty for what happened that night. Going to prison isn’t going to help him, I want him to get proper psychiatric help.” Angie is angry at first and berates Scrabbler for not caring that he could’ve killed her or Scrabbler himself given the chance but eventually agrees that he needs proper help. Scrabbler thanks her and tells her that something good can finally come out of this mess. He rushes off as he has a lot of work to catch up on.
Dan begs lotty to give him more sleeping tablets but she refuses and tells him that he doesn’t need them and isn’t thinking straight. “You rang me up last night asking to help you to get rid of Butthead, they’re making you delirious. Why do you need them anyway? What is bothering you? You can tell me!” Dan is unnerved and tells her that he thought she was his friend, the one person he could rely on! and storms off. Later, a lonely dan rings Bevis to come home saying he was hasty and didn’t realise how much he needed him. Bevis says he blew it and won’t say where he’s staying. Dan shakes on the sofa, the withdrawal symptoms kicking in as he faces a sleepless night. Lotty calls around but he doesn’t answer.
Sorcha heads to the pub to collect the rest of her stuff as she didn’t get the chance to take it home with her. She visibly upset by the blood stain outside the pub but she takes a deep breath and holds her head high as she tries to put on a brave face. Maurice asks blue_angel to rustle her up something to eat as he takes her upstairs. Sorcha sees a necklace that TK bought her and it isn’t long before a row breaks out between the pair. She blames him for TK’s death, “ I shoulda left ya and not been such a coward. All the time I wasted with you when I coulda been with him.” she cries before informing him why he was standing there in the first place, “he didn’t come in because he didn’t want to cause any more upset. That’s the kind of man he was!” she sniffs as heads down and asks priscilla to pour her a double. Maurice is relieved she doesn’t know about the phone call he made but is worried about her when he sees her getting sloshed in the bar. Later, sorcha falls over and cuts herself. Michael is amused saying I guess she’s used of being on her back. Maurice takes her in the back and cleans her cut. It’s clear he still loves her and he reminds her that today should’ve been their wedding day. Sorcha is in no fit state to walk home but she won’t let him help her so he asks priscilla to do the needful. Maurice watches that she gets home ok.
Duff duff: Maurice kneels by the flowers that have been laid outside the pub and breaks down, even though he betrayed him, it doesn’t undo the friendship they had and the happy times they shared.
