Hello all! It feels like an age since I was last on here...
I recently caught a few minutes of 'Doctor Who's Greatest Moments' and it made me ponder what Doctor Who's greatest moments actually are. The show didn't do much except rehash some post-2005 clips, so I thought I'd do a little poll as I really enjoyed the the last one I did and what better time to do it than now?!

It's just a bit of fun, hope lots of you get involved and it'll only take about a minute, just put your top 5 moments into the answer boxes and perhaps some comments on why you love them in the comments box.

Thanks!

For me it's when Jenna-Louise Coleman pops up in Asylum of the Daleks, it just completely threw me, what a masterstroke from Moffat.

Only a 'masterstroke' if you had any idea of who the actress was, and as a non-watcher of soaps, I didn't have a clue until after the event, so it was pretty meaningless to a significant portion of the viewing population.

I had a go, but came to the conclusion that my watching over the years hasn't been composed of 'greatest moments'... does Davros' original storyline count as a 'moment'? Or the unravelling of John Smith's life in 1913? Or maybe even the moment when regeneration first occurred and Patrick Troughton's face appeared?

I take that back: I might have another go.....

It's the moments that stand out to you as some of the best in the series. it could be a scene, a first appearance, a goodbye, even just one line of dialogue!

Thanks for the responses so far everyone!

I filled this out earlier today (lovely idea by the way) and my top five (if memory serves) were:

(Journey's End) The TARDIS towing the Earth home, piloted by the Doctor and all of his companions
(Genesis of the Daleks) The conversation between the Doctor and Davros about the chemical weapon/virus
(Earthshock) The death of Adric
(The Tenth Planet) The first regeneration
(Robot) The 4th Doctor and Sarah Jane together for the first time
It's really hard to pick just five when there have been so many, but I guess these are mine:

1. "Do I have the right?" Fourth Doctor in Genesis of the Daleks
2. "One day I shall come back" First Doctor in Dalek Invasion of Earth
3. John Hurt reveal at the end of The Name of the Doctor
4. Fith to Sixth Doctor regeneration in Caves of Androzani
5. The TARDIS saying "hello" to the Doctor in The Doctor's Wife

On (I think) the Ark in Space DVD, on the extras, one of the writers is talking about Tom Baker's "Homo Sapiens" speech and says (very honestly) that Jon Pertwee simply didn't have the range or gravitas to deliver a speech like that. I think Tom was a bit of a revelation for the writers at that time, and a lot of his classic scenes are not only classic because of the writing but because it was Tom saying it.

Thanks for the above answers guys but could you please put them in in the survey in the link? It'll just be much easier for them to get counted that way, and I wouldn't want to lose them!

I'm a little torn & debating my choices all the time , but here's a few ideas:

(5.) The First Doctor says farewell to Susan for the last time
(4.) Ian & Barbara follow their pupil Susan back to the junk-yard in the very first episode, 'An Unearthly Child' when it all began
(3.) Tom Baker's Doctor has the chance to wipe out the Daleks before they've even begun in 'Genesis of the Daleks'
(2.) Nine, Captain Jack & Rose are surrounded by gas-masked children in the wartime hospital in 'The Empty Child.' Are you my mummy?
(1.) Split decision between Eleven's challenge to every alien race he's ever faced at Stonehenge in 'The Pandorica Opens'/River Song reaveals her identity to the Doctor, Amy & Rory in 'A Good Man Goes to War'
Who am I to judge?!

The First Doctor standing up to that lone Dalek in "The Dalek Invasion of Earth". To me, that has to be one of the Doctor's best moments.

I have to be honest, I was split on Earthshock. The Cybermen's surprise appearance at the end of episode one almost swung it. I don't think younger viewers can realise how stupendously AMAZING that shock cliff-hanger was at the time.

But the death of a companion has to win through. And the heroic death of Adric, love him or hate him, was astounding.

top 6 for me:

Special Weapons Dalek in Remembrance Of The Daleks
Eleven's challenge to every alien race he's ever faced at Stonehenge in 'The Pandorica Opens
fifth's nearly drowning in "warriors of the deep"
Doctor/Omega in "arc of infinity"
Alternate versions in "inferno"
the inflatable snake from "kinda"

To the person who didn't fill out any moments - could you go back and put some in haha! You're a fan of both classic and new and have been since 1998, in case you need a little memory boost

Just been looking at the results so far - some interesting votes!
There's one particular moment from the 70s that I am very surprised to see has no votes as of yet though! I suppose there's time.
The poll will be open til early November so please share it with any fellow Who fans you know - the more votes the better!
