For a long time, Kirk had hardly any screen time. I love his pairing with Beth.

I've always liked Kirk. I think he serves a purpose on the show, he makes me laugh with the lines he comes out with and I think to put him with Beth was a genius idea.

It all feels so natural, Kirk makes a surprisingly great father-figure to Craig, it makes wonderful progression for the character, and Beth and Kirk just work. I think it's because it wasn't engineered from the beginning, it all just came together gradually.

I do think this pairing has saved Kirk somewhat, he was getting to an age where it seemed he'd forever be alone. His long-time companions - Les, Fiz, Ches, had all moved on somehow and he'd stayed stuck in the same spot. I hope we see a long future for this new family, with Beth and Craig becoming Sutherlands down the line.

The Beth/Kirk/Craig set up is great and credit to Blackburn for giving them plenty more to do, this is the most material Kirk has ever had and for once he is actually relevant and serves a real purpose to being in the Street. Also I am pleased with the direction they have taken Beth in, we all thought she would have been Cilla No 2 (not that I would have minded as I loved Cilla) but they have mellowed her a lot but still kept that loud mouth part of her that the factory always needs. Craig is without doubt the most likeable young character they have.
