Will people running the GM version of IOS7 still receive an update on the phone or will it not show up as it already has version 7 on it?

There will only be an update if the version released on Wednesday is different to the GM. If not, then no update.

But surly if it's the Golden Master then it is by definition, the final version?

Make sense yeah.

To be fair i cant really find any faults or bugs but there are still bugs from IOS6 in it, like sometimes when your in a forum scrolling down, if someone posts a youtube video it just crashes to the home screen, and the transition when turning the phone from portrait to landscape(and back again) could be smoother, apart from that its all ok

When the public version of ios7 comes out, will it change the iAd 's that are currently in the ios7GM (the adverts for iAd, I like it as I find them less annoying)

Yeah but if they made any changes between releasing the GM and the public version then people with GM version will need to update.

I most likely will take the opportunity to do a full restore and a spring clean of sorts when the release is official. I need to copy all my music off so it tallies up with the music i've got on my PC.

I suppose doing a full restore as well might clean out some cache files or stuff like that. Can't hurt really and i'll certainly have the time to do it.

Nothing wrong with a good ole spring clean Jason, but for the love of god, please don't let my misses hear me saying that

Wrong . The GM is the final version that phones end up with when they go out of the factory. Normally, developers can naturally upgrade from GM to x.1 and onwards without any issues. It's just to give developers a chance to update apps before the initial release of the OS and new phones.

I saw someone on the train with iOS7 on their iPhone 4/4S. Looks pretty sweet in real life.

Ok so I shouldn't have to update then, nice

But my misses is on Beta 6 still, that should show an update in the settings menu then

I'm running it on a mini and not experienced any issues. However, I don't like it. It's not very tweaked for iPad and just feels like a big iPhone.
Also I had to enable bold fonts because the font under the home screen icons is so thin and pixelated it looks awful. Makes the screen look worse than it is.

What iPad do you have?

Ideally, yes. However, in ne case, the public release was an update to the GM - I remember as I had the GM installed, and was then prompted to update when the release was official. I can't remember whether it was iOS 5 or iOS 6 now, though.

Not necessarily as it's still a beta version (I don't think iOS beta editions support OTA updates).

Looking forward to update my iPad Mini. Actually, in response to the person above who is running iOS on iPad Mini; maybe the retina Mini is coming to overcome this problem. Not ideal but I'm more concerned about the apps rather than small text on the home screen.

Wasn't that iOS 4 when they had antenna gate? 4.0.1 changed the way the antenna bars worked.

Oops, I missed the part where you said mini. The new font is obviously designed for the retina display devices, I guess within the next year or so they will no longer sell any non retina iPads. All the iPhones and iPod touches are retina now.

I've used iOS7 on my iPhone 5 and iPad 4... the experience has definitely been better on the phone rather than the tablet...

Hopefully the PR version will iron out any final quirks!

Not even putting the phone into recovery mode? Won't iTunes see it then? Far enough to get to the "check for updates", "restore" screen?

I think iTunes will see it, but you won't be able to sync or update with it - the phone will work fine

Just doing it as i type, itunes did indeed see the phone and correctly reported it was on the latest version of IOS (version 7), no errors at all, and it let me click on check for updates or restore.

Now installing GM

sorry, i've just realised i misread your post - you can, of course, update to GM but iTunes won't subsequently work after the update until the new version is released tomorrow.

I have to echo this, however I would go so far as to say avoid upgrading on the iPad 3/4 as it is incredibly laggy, I don't understand how the GM build is actually worse than the Beta. Seriously people need to avoid iOS 7 for iPad till the first point release comes out. Apple is releasing a shitty update otherwise.
