How great was Eastenders tonight?!
I thought it was fantastic
The quality has just shot RIGHT up the past couple of weeks.. Perfect amount of short scenes, like Billy's phone dropping in the water, which just makes it feel more real having these little scenes in, some great humour spaced throughout all the drama, real emotion with Jean.. Great to see something which was'nt about affairs etc and seeing Kat's need for Jean to stay.. The intro today was great with the music and Jean saying that the song is only appropriate for sad times, and the way the music played at the end to symbolise that the sad times had begun were just perfect. I wondered if it would play at the end Things really feel moving and balanced now.. It feels like its changed rather than just a passing phase. Lets hope! |

It was good character led drama tonight which when Eastenders gets right then it cannot be beaten.

Just average tbh
Definetly doesn't compare with Corrie and Emmerdale IMO |

Definetly doesn't compare with Corrie and Emmerdale IMO The turn in relations between Ronnie and Lola was ridiculous... obviously Lola will fulfil some of Ronnie's Danielle instincts. It's just not convincing. Im so over Jean too! |

I thought it was great....Jean at her best. Expected more from the Ronnie/Lola scene though.

Definetly doesn't compare with Corrie and Emmerdale IMO For me, Corrie and Emmerdale is like watching a series of talks where viewers are talked to. "Nick's waking up. I'm just so worried he's got brain damage now". Everything is just so staged to me and just said.. Eastenders does things in a way that feels like its driving force is emotions and the way characters feel.. To me the other soaps just feel 2D and you know exactly how each scene will play out |

Extremely watchable and a damnsite better than this year's dull shit. Really felt for Jean tonight and didn't like the way Kat spoke to her @ the end.
Last week was pretty good as well. |

Billy dropping his phone in the bucket, Gaynor with the earphones...just cringe worthy. I enjoyed the scenes with Jean though.

I really enjoyed tonight's episode. I've only watched episodes here and there throughout the year as nothing has really been interesting me but Ronnie's return last week made me want to watch. I still don't enjoy the new characters introduced this year (Hartmans, Carl, Kirsty) and they have been the ones disappointing me the past week.
Has been good to see stories that aren't involving relationships etc (yes, I know Jean's story involves a relationship but the story tonight was focusing on Kat's dependency on her and Jean finally getting happiness) |

It was shockingly bad episode like watching paint dry. The ratings for EE are falling for a very good reason you know.

I'm wondering if she's gunna get Julia's theme when she leaves actually.. Could see there being a big heart to heart with her and Kat and everyone waves her off.. That would be nice

Not as good as recent episodes. I found myself clock watching a bit.

I thought it was really good. The scenes with Ronnie and Lola weren't as good as I thought they were going to be but Jean and Kat were brilliant.

Finally, a feeling that all the characters are no longer in search of an author...but to be truthful, it would have been nothing special a few years ago. It was a decent episode of proper EE, the show so many of us have been missing. I thought Abi was really good - much better than Lola, who was seriously unconvincing. i like it when the writers give Billy something to do other than moan - Perry Fenwick is such a good actor. Phil at the hospital was very well done - nicely understated, especially the nurse's reaction. Kat and Roxy were great, although the 'Kat being selfish' story is very stagey in itself.

Next week looks dreadful.. yet more focus on the teens.. Joey & Lauren  Fatboy & Poppy  Tamwar & Alice, kissing games in the Vic..
.. Kidneygate 2... further Sharon ruination.. thrilling Yes, I know the episodes haven't aired yet and their may be a flicker in the viewing figures following David's return, however, I doubt it and I predict the unstoppable Emmerdale will eat it for breakfast.. |

What is with the defending of EE all the time just lately? Every single episode a thread like this appears talking the show up and saying how great it is! Come on, if the quality was good or as good as people are making it out to be there shouldn't be a need to talk about it, the quality should say it all.
I don't see other people making a song and dance about other soaps. For the record it has improved a bit but I think that is more to do with the fact they actually have a few big storylines which is what they haven't really had since Heather's death. If anything it just highlights how bad the show has been this past 18 months that people can now actually defend the show. But the reality is this is what should be produced all the time and not just for a couple of weeks each year! |

The baby swap and following months of watching Ronnie walk around depressed as hell didn't sit well with viewers so what do they do? Revisit the whole thing all over again!
Lola's reaction to Ronnie is so OTT considering she didn't even know her back then. East needs to move forward, not keep dragging up the past. |

And then there's the reactions whenever Hollyoaks do something ridiculous that isn't mentioned in their spoilers. How many threads did that doctor strangling Mercedes spawn? |
