I agree that on the whole they are but when you see some of the stuff that is written on DS (an actively moderated and fairly enlightened forum) from those more enlightened than most viewers you realise how far there is still to go. The statistics on suicides and self-harm relating to transgender people are truly shocking so the more people who are brave enough to put themselves in the public eye the better.

I know it's a minor quibble but I dislike it when people say "I don't lie".
Everybody lies it's human nature. What people surely mean is that they don't make a habit of lying and they feel they are generaly honest. I know it's a cliche but I often feel those that act affronted at the very thought that they lie are that are most dishonest.
Also I have to roll my eyes at her continuing to push the whole Russell Brand affair. I know people hoped that Lauren's life would be improved and I guess it has as she's getting a fair amount of post BB media work but surely this is not the kind of celeb everyone hoped she would become as a result of the the good will she earned with some viewers.

To be fair, Lauren mentioned on This Morning that she was sometimes still referred to as "him" and said that Russell Brand's mother had called her this also (it was widely reported when this happened as Russell tweeted it) and then Philip Schofield brought up the affair and asked her about it. I don't think she was "pushing it" (although it won't harm her book sales
)

I'm surprised she says she didn't get any help when she had her gender reassignment surgery. I thought the NHS covered all angles of help and counselling in preparation and post op?
Plus, as others have said, there are already help groups set up in GB.

My ex-husband is transgender and I know for a fact that all those undergoing the process on the NHS have to have lived as a woman and seen a psychologist for at least 3 years before surgery is agreed. They are also referred to support groups.
However....Lauren did not have NHS surgery. Apparently Max Clifford helped raise the cash for her to go private. Also her mother (under a false identity and with fake qualifications) undertook the role of psychologist. Knowing what my ex went through, I have doubts about whether an NHS psychologist would have considered Lauren psychologically and emotionally prepared to handle life after surgery. Hers is a sorry story and I can only see her desperate quest for fame to be a dangerous path.
Lauren on This Morning - I noticed she was wearing her bracelet with the Big Brother Eye on that she wore constantly in the House too !!! She sounded like she was comparing herself to Liz Taylor, and as for Russell Brand, I just don't believe Lauren had the kind of relationship that was what she says - and she closes her eyes a lot and doesn't look at people when they talk to her, that I find irritating - She came across completely different to what she was like in the house. Nadia was also in the house before Lauren, so there have been other transgenders, so Lauren wasn't the first either

The bib is where it becomes a typical Lauren-story. She claims she 'had to wait too long' to have start the process under the NHS. There's a reason for that, but hey, why wait when you can get your mum to act as your psychologist and get the ball rolling, especially when the operations are paid for by someone who will also generate some publicity. Two birds with one stone is not something the Harries pass up easily.

Yes. She was imo easy to warm to in the house but outside of it, she's strangely cold and humourless. The post-CBB Lauren is not remotely tv-friendly which is sadly ironic as the whole point of CBB was to showcase her and set her up for a tv career.
She should have stayed in the house.
