They always seem to go onto ITV to plug eastenders!!
I don't recall Sam Womack on any BBC one show promoting her return and it will probably be the same for Michael French! |

She has just referred to EE being 3rd in the ratings... obviously they are all well aware...
She also made it pretty clear she disagreed with Pat's death and she outright confirmed Pam didn't want the character killed and was devastated as she only asked for a break!!!! Babs says no one agreed or knows why they did that to her also claims its Pat like characters the show badly needs.lol Bab's might have just burned all her bridges at the beeb revealing all this

Babs "It's in a bit of a state right now"
Speaking about EE now on This Morning. Also said that Pam didn't want too go and that it was a disgrace that they killed her off! Too true
Also said she wouln't go back full time but maybe part time?

Fantastic interview, she admitted the show has been in a state and how its missing a much needed Matriarch, really didn't know to that extent that Pam was gutted about being killed off, what I cannot believe is that John Yorke must of agreed to Pat's killing yet knowing that Pam didn't want it to happen, for someone that was boss during one of the show's best ever periods that is shocking!

Barbara Windsor. What an absolute Icon. Wonderful interview on This Morning
Barbara Windsor! My goodness What an absolute icon of soap. She just embodies everything that was so magical about the film and tv industry.
Honest, vocal, hard working, compassionate, uber talented, loves her profession, never gets above herself. A true true professional. So so sad to hear how much Pam St Clement didnt want to be killed off! Whoever made that descision should never work in the industry again. She only wanted a few months off and they turn around and kill her! While the likes of Patsy Palmer get several breaks a year! Barbara Windsor just make my heart smile. I miss her in Eastenders so much. Related content from Digital Spy:

Babs was refreshingly honest as always and not afraid to speak her mind about EE - she acknowledges the show's in a bad way at the moment ("we've *never* been third before"), and was very vocal on the decision to kill off Pat. Good on her.

EastEnders legend Barbara Windsor has suggested that the soap is struggling without its matriarchal figures.
The fan favourite, who returns to screens for one episode as Peggy Mitchell tomorrow night, spoke candidly about the show's current performance on ITV's This Morning today (September 19). Emmerdale has pulled ahead of EastEnders in the soap ratings on a number of occasions in the past few months, while Coronation Street has remained in the top spot. However, Windsor suggested that new executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins will get things back on track. She commented: "We've got a wonderful new guv'nor who's gone in, who's lovely. Because it's in a bit of a state, the show, at the moment. It's not getting there. We're third - oh dear! Never been third, ever." Windsor went on to reassert her view that Pam St Clement's popular character Pat Evans should not have been killed off. She said: "[That] was a disgrace. I never understood - we never understood it. She told me that she wanted a little time off. The next thing I know, she's phoning me up saying, 'Can I come and see you?' and she looked at me with tears and said, 'They're killing me off, Bar'. "Nobody knew why. By God, isn't she missed? That's what happened. You've got no matriarchal - well, you've got one - but you've got no matriarchal figures, really. She was one of those characters who could go with that family, this family, she could go off, she could come back. She's sadly, sadly missed, I think." Asked directly whether St Clement wanted to leave for good, she replied: "No. I hope she don't mind me saying that. I think everybody knew she didn't want to go. She's a good lady to have in the show. She always knew her lines. She could play comedy, drama, everything." Tomorrow's EastEnders episode sees Peggy return to visit her son Phil (Steve McFadden) in hospital. She does so after Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) contacts her to reveal how much Phil is struggling following the recent car crash. Asked whether she would like to return as Peggy again, Windsor replied: "Yeah, maybe. As I feel now, I'm so happy about it. But I've got a whole load of radio on next year. I've got all my Radio 2 stuff, I've got a lot of that. "I don't know about [returning] full-time. Maybe part-time. I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed it. Of course, I adore Steve and I adore Perry. They very kindly gave me my favourite cameraman and favourite director. They wouldn't give me that if I came back full-time!" http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2...mpaign=twitter |

Me too! It would have been stupid if she sat and said how great it is at the moment. You can feel her passion for the Showa d a breath of fresh air not listening to the normal actors fake speeches because they are scared of offending people. I guess at her age she no longer cares about being honest. And yet she was still so positive about the show
Nice one Duchess!

She looked ill to me. She's lost a lot of weight. I'd always assumed that they killed off Pat because that's what the actress had wanted, clearly not. I wonder if Babs will be asked back after that little outburst?

While I agree that what she said was honest I can't agree that she never gets above herself or that she is a true professional.
