If BB14 had been vote to save
dan_
17-09-2013
I made a thread like this during BB14, but it didn't get many replies and soon fell off the first page. There is no point bumping it as it was mid-way through the series and wasn't complete.

Anyway, this is how I think BB14 would have gone if it was vote to save this year:

Eviction 1: Dexter vs Gina vs Sallie - Dexter evicted
Eviction 2: Gina vs Jemima vs Sallie - Jemima evicted
Safe House eviction: Gina & Sallie vs Wolfy & Dan for - Gina & Sallie enter SH
Eviction 3: Callum vs Hazel vs Jackie vs Wolfy - Jackie evicted
Eviction 4: Callum vs Gina vs vs Jack and Joe vs Sallie vs Wolfy - Wolfy evicted
Eviction 5: Dan vs Sam vs Sophie - Sophie evicted
Eviction 6: Callum vs Hazel vs Jack and Joe vs Sallie - Sallie evicted
Eviction 7: Callum vs Charlie vs Dan vs Hazel vs Jack & Joe - Callum evicted
Eviction 8: Charlie vs Dan vs Jack & Joe vs Sam - Charlie evicted

The final five:
5th: Jack & Joe
4th: Hazel
3rd: Dan
2nd: Gina
Winner: Sam

Thoughts? is it realistic? Do you think the series would have been better/worse like this?

To be honest don't think it would have made much difference for that series in particular.
Though that first week `twist` asking the public to choose the nominees was ridiculous and should never of happened.

I would have like to of seen that twist removed, then a vote to save, with PROPER nominations every week and the 3+ housemates up for eviction.

Think it could have been a better series towards the end, and at least given it some stability!

Sallie would have defintley stayed the first week had it been Vote to save .

It's plausible, although I think Callum might have stayed in a little longer that you think.

It's difficult to know what would have happened in the first eviction. My guess would be that Gina would have gone (a girl has gone first in every civilian series to date).

Regardless, the plausibility of Sallie lasting so long shows the danger of VTS - someone staying due to a minority of hardcore fans despite the majority finding her profoundly boring and obnoxious.

I don't think Hazel staying until the final would have been good either (including not for her), although she might have fallen before Callum.

Dan making the final would have been a good thing, but that nom-scramble was the silliest twist of the whole series.

I think Jack & Joe would have gone over Wolfie in eviction 4, and Sam over Sophie in eviction 5.

This, meaning it would've been a much better series.

I don't Sallie would have stayed that long even with vote to save - in fact she may still have gone in week 1. It would have been close between her and Gina for the midweek save - people then may have saved Dexter to get rid of Sallie

Dan and Hazel both making the final is likely though - which would have been great

You've got to take into account as well that the people's puppet nominations would have been vote to save as well, who would have likely gone up then if that was the case? (Jemima, Charlie and Gina perhaps?)

I'm pretty certain that Sallie would have been saved first tbh. Dexter wasn't liked at this point at all, he'd done absolutely nothing and was just seen as the rich guy who was a playa. He wasn't being targeted at this point therefore not appealing as much to the public. Gina was still seen as the stuck-up rich girl and had only argued with Sallie, neither of them were favourites like they ended up becoming. Sallie had done a LOT more than them both and was very popular as well as being hated by some; she was controversial.

Dexter still I think. He wasn't liked at all in week one.

In the long run, I think it would have improved the series not to have the usual 'sacred victim' housemate drag things down in the second half.

Most things would have carried on as usual, with the benefit of killing off a terrible fake showmance. Callum's descent into cringiness was more down to Jackie than Dexter and he might have been more watchable without being goaded so much.

Also, Sam wouldn't have had an 'enemy' to feud with so may not have come across like the 'good guy' so might have ended up losing.

Sallie would have still gone in the first few weeks, but she would have beaten Jemima, Wolfie and probably Hazel.

why do people think vote to save keeps bigger characters in for longer? just curious about the logic

also I wonder which - VTS or VTE - brings in more phonecall revenue, because I imagine that matters most to Channel 5

Because it's true.

In a VTS, Dan would have had the most votes to stay, but he got the most votes to evict. For CBB, I doubt Lauren would have stayed until the final with evict.

OK but what's the logic?

in a VTS people will vote for the most 'likeable' HMs, but very often the most likeable are also the most boring. So the boring characters stay for both VTE and VTS

It would have made this particular series worse rather than better, since the boot order was pretty much perfect this time. Every HM left at around the right time.

That's very selective, there's been many of examples of boring people surviving VTS too:

We lost Nana Julie to Martin Kemp
Aden to Heaven
Caroline to pretty much everyone

There'd be loads more if there weren't so many head-to-heads in the vote-to-save years. The voting system doesn't really make much difference.

Have you not been watching the show when it has been Vote to save ? The majority or time the bigger characters stay when it's vote to save .

Exactly. Also with a vote to evict in CBB11 there's no way that Speidi would have made the finale.

Well, I saw a couple of hypothetical save votes during the Dan week, and he had 77% to save on one of them...

Hira going in a save vote was another one, she would have polled the LEAST in an evict because she was invisible.

So many instances, Speidi would have gone by the 3rd eviction because they were the most hated (but also the most praised)

You can never tell

Callum, for instance, may have done really well without dexter. Gina may have struggled with sallie throughout, Charlie may have been more non existent without dexter. Etcetc

I've always thought that, which is why I prefer vote to evict, even though there will obviously be individual votes where it is to my disadvantage. I would have hated Sallie to have overshadowed half the series.

Yes I agree. If you take out special cases like the White Room, it was the most clearly unjust nominations twist ever. They didn't even pretend that they were doing anything other than putting two people up for not getting enough nominations. Dan was just very unlucky - no one expected him to be chosen as the third.

I think they would have been out first. They would certainly have been out as soon as they were up. Which imo would have been the best possible thing for that series - BB would have had to actually use their brains and construct an actual series round the housemates they had instead of just relying on Speidi and special twists to manufacture stories.

All housemate votes can produce very odd results either way. Poor Hira, crying that "they hate me!"; in fact few housemates can have been less hated.
