I think the latest show was a mixed bag. The calendar business was pretty tedious and far too long, but the paying for Twitter followers section was inspired, laugh out loud brilliance (for me anyway). Dave Gorman has very.similar views to me about social media.
Anyway, I'm off to have F and C but without the peas. |

The only people who probably didn't like his calendar explanation were those whose new birthdates would be in Gormanuary or even worse that one date in the year called Intermission! He made a subject that everybody takes for granted without a second thought and seems perfectly sensible suddenly seem just a little bit absurd.
As for buying twitter followers, well that is a new low for the saddo's of this world surely. |

Unusual.
What annoys me is comedians who've had a rare TV appearance and then do comedy nights where they repeat what they've already done on TV shows. I saw Jamali Maddix as part of a comedy night where he had 20 minutes and it was just an extended version of what he did when he appeared on the John Bishop Show. He probably did exactly the same performance for the John Bishop show before it was edited by the producers. Very disappointing. For an absurd example you would not get anyone going to a Rolling Stones concert and then posting "I'd heard most of it before, terrible show, he sang that song back in the 60s, get some new material Jagger!" would you? Or indeed going to the west end and complaining "Hamlet again? Didn't they do that last year?" So yes, it's got to be tricky to fulfil the demand for new material and difficult to judge just exactly when a routine is "retired" from your set. I can't remember which 80s comedian it was who said he would only do a joke on telly after he'd completed his tour with that set and then he'd never tell it again. May have been Billy Connolly, but can't find the quote. |

The best comedians can, of course, recycle their jokes time and again and they remain as funny as the first time. Can't think of a current name that is able to that, sadly.

They say if you do theatre's you can do the same routine a hundred times but if you do TV you can do it once.

It must be difficult in the stand up comedy business. It's one of the few arms of entertainment where the public expect you to say something different every time you appear.
For an absurd example you would not get anyone going to a Rolling Stones concert and then posting "I'd heard most of it before, terrible show, he sang that song back in the 60s, get some new material Jagger!" would you? Or indeed going to the west end and complaining "Hamlet again? Didn't they do that last year?" If it's advertised as Hamlet and you've seen Hamlet before you only go if you want to see Hamlet again. With music you want to hear your favourites again and again, with jokes if you remember the punch line they aren't funny if you keep hearing them. With comedians you don't decide I saw him do a 5 minute piece on a TV show, I've heard all his good jokes. It should be because I've seen him do some good jokes I want to hear more of what he's got to offer. |

...in the same way that technically on a clock 24:00 should follow 23:59, but then 00:01 should follow 24:00 but that's too complicated so we have 00:00 instead.
The hour after midnight is 00:00:00 to 00:59:59 - the first hour of the day is numbered as zero. The final hour is hour 23. Clocks are both correct and accurate to display 00:00 after 23:59:59. 24:00 would be the 25th hour, which clearly can't happen. Hour 23 finishes as does the day itself after 23:59:59. 00:00:00 is the first second of the new day following the last second of the old day. Anyhoo. I've enjoyed this run. The first few I didn't catch then didn't really get the vibe of the few I did see, but the last few have been enjoyable. So what if some of the material is a bit flakey? It's outweighed by the good stuff. |

The time periods that we use were set by the Romans, and don't reflect the true beginning and ending of each day. |

The day itself ends at sunset, which is the beginning of the night. At sunset, the previous day has ended, and the new day begins. Each natural time period begins with the dark part of the day, which is the night.

Sorry to pick holes, but this is wrong.

A goodish enough end to the series although in the episode and a few others I thought he laboured on one subject for too long.
In earlier series it may have seemed to jump around on subjects a bit but was always tied up neatly in the end. Would like it to get another series though. |

I wasnt keen on the compilation. The point of the show is that its these long elaborate stories that you follow. The fast-pacedness (thats not even a word, is it?) of the compilations didnt feel right.

As a means of drawing in viewers for the new series it may work but it was an odd watch for regular fans, given how much was chopped from some of the elaborate rambles.

In the synopsis it said there was previously unseen footage
I can't recall seeing anything new. Possibly the bit about inventing the HTC guy's twitter profile? But that may be because I've only seen that episode once. I've seen others two or three times. |

Was the Seinfeld found poem in the regular show?
I can't remember seeing much unseen footage in the compilation shows. |
