On an independent poll conducted on Digital Spy, 71pct of voters said they preferred yesterdays Scd episode to TXF. Criticism has been rife of XFs new bootcamp format, which has been described as 'cruel' and 'boring' by critics and viewers alike. Sometimes inferior programs end up winning the ratings but I hope in yesterdays case, SCD was victorious as it deserves it. Atlantis should get about 6million for yesterdays episode but ratings will dip in the next few weeks due to a weak opener which featured a poor script and sub-par acting.

I am not so sure - even SCD viewers can use remotes and if they dont like something will be turning over to ITV3/Drama. Being the first ep should still get 5m - maybe.

Just seen the DS review of Atlantis and its quite good I think. They certainly give it a chance to be the new Merlin - did no one on here watch it?

I watched it, cheesy brain dead, naff dialogue, piss poor acting, but I think it is designed for family viewing so that's probably why it is so unchallenging and dumbed down. I much preferred Merlin and probably won't watch this again unless my niece is staying with me, but I think it could do 3-5m against TXF, maybe I'm being too generous, it might have even turned kids off?

No +1 back then but yes, it did launch very well. I can't bring myself to think that Atlantis will match that.

Nothing wrong with it. It just doesn't really get a negative response on here compared to other shows I mentioned.

It's going to be hard to burn off Atlantis if it's underwater.

People saying XF's format is 'cruel' - others including myself say it makes good TV. I think people are over-reacting, then again these are probably the same people who didn't like arena auditions, Sunday results show and the like...

You need a new scriptwriter George - the underwater joke has been flogged to death.

The "ratings battle" has been anticipated for weeks - it should be expected.

The only problem I have with the X Factor is the messy editing. Why spend 10 minutes last week on that group they wanted to split up and only take 10 seconds to get rid of them this week. Why show Amy Mottram being put through to the last stage and then not show her elimination? It all feels a bit thrown together and we shouldn't have people singing at this stage that we have not seen anything of before.

I know.

Whatever the result the usual shitstorm will ensue

I'm never sure if wall-to-wall promotion, as there was for Atlantis, ultimately works against a show by alienating part of the potential audience.

Didn't catch any of Atlantis but does seem to be Merlin 2.0 - at least in the way it's branded/marketed. By this logic it should do quite well. 5m?

Well, Overnights.tv confirms the ratings are out, so shouldn't be long.

Strictly averaged 9.2m? Doesn't seem to bode well for X Factor unfortunately.

XFactor got its worst rating of the series, down a million from last week. Told you Hassan this would happen! Watch next what happens when it clashes vs Scd for 25mins, yesterdays was only a 5min clash and it rated that bad!

Solid launch for Atlantis - very good.

Brilliant for Strictly, pretty underpar for Factor (though +1 repeat may cheer ITV up a bit)

Good enough start for Atlantis, barely 2m behind Factor! Closer than Merlin's debut in 2008.

No need to rub it in.

It was only down about 600k.
