Some of the BBC programming for gaps left by "The One Show" did attract a slightly larger audience than the daily magazine show. The baliff documentary seemed popular.
Indeed, and yesterday The One Show had 4.29m (23%) tape-checked, a very good number and in line with ratings for the same week last year. Both it and Emmerdale are performing well in the slot, with a combined 60% of the audience, exc +1.

What happened to there being a full series of superstars??
Presumably the BBC have seen sense.

Or maybe not if they've developing 'Strictly Gymnastics'. Are the BBC and ITV just going to go through each event of The Games and turn them into their own weekly format? Although I suppose gymnastics at least has more variety than diving.

Big Ballpark.

How can you be dented by a "handful" of viewers.
It's the quality of the denting, not the quantity, that matters...

Emmerdale is having extra eps because it the 1st Anniversary of the 40th Anniversary live ep and they are having BIG storylines that week.
That obvious thing to celebrate, an anniversary of an anniversary. On Saturday I shall be celebrating six months since my birthday.

this year they replaced it with nature documentary repeats, and networked showings of regional programming, didn't they?
The One Show always takes time off for the summer but in previous years various sporting events mean it's not always that noticeable. This year there wasn't, so the clip shows they usually stick in between the sport didn't stretch far enough to cover the gap.

Anne Widdecombe in tight lycra leaping aboard a pommel horse? Ratings platinum.
Whilst eating a sandwich a little piece of vomit materialised when I read your post! Do you think you could give a little warning next time?

In your opinion of course! I can't stand Pointless, like The Chase but both shows have deservedly done enough for BBC & ITV to elevate them to Saturday evening slots.

Alexander Armstrong & Richard Osman are the perfect double act for a teatime quiz. Bradley Walsh tries his best but The Chase looks very repetitive and has way too many questions. With zero breaks and under 10 questions Pointless is a ratings banker. I think it ought be moved to 7.00pm against EM whenever TOS is on hiatus.

Well I guess other people don't think of them like that, much better then some anodyne soap churning out plots by rota year after year, or boring dancing reality shows, in my honest opinion.

Interesting that Pointless is going up, has been noticeable that the jackpot is going more ATM, I personally like it when it builds up, but I guess it does leave a sense of anti-climax.

That share looks very high for the one show yesterday. It is usually between 19-20 pc.

Presumably not, though, in a Dales winebar full of lesbian vets?

(Or perhaps you are! If so, can I come? )

It's been as high as 25% before now, and last Autumn / Winter I think it was more like 21%.

I guess it depends on the guests and what else is on at the time. Maybe Paul Merton is more popular than anyone knew

US numbers...

ABC
8PM: Marvel's Agents of SHIELD – 3.2 [8.44]
9PM: The Goldbergs – 2.2 [6.16]
9:30PM: Trophy Wife – 1.4 [4.28]
10PM: Lucky 7 – 0.9 [2.81]

CBS
8PM: NCIS – 3.4 [19.33]
9PM: NCIS: LA – 2.7 [14.79]
10PM: Person of Interest – 2.0 [12.16]

Fox
8PM: Dads – 1.3 [3.42]
8:30PM: Brooklyn Nine-Nine – 1.4 [3.42]
9PM: New Girl – 1.9 [3.89]
9:30PM: The Mindy Project – 1.5 [2.96]

NBC
8PM: The Voice – 4.4 [14.20]
10PM: Chicago Fire – 2.8 [9.00]

The CW
8PM: iHeart Radio Music Festival – 0.4 [1.09]

Agents of SHIELD down huge from last week dropping more than a point in the demo. That's a 32% week-on-week drop. The rest of the ABC line-up didn't fare much better with The Goldbergs down 30% and Trophy Wife down nearly 40% and Lucky 7 down 30% at 10PM. CBS also down across the board week-on-week with NCIS dropping two tenths, NCIS: LA three tenths and Person of Interest three tenths.

On NBC The Voice was down two-tenths week-on-week for its second Tuesday outing with Chicago Fire steady as a rock at 10PM. The good news for Fox is that The Mindy Project seems to have hit rock bottom its steady vs. last week. The bad news is that the rest of the line-up is still falling. Dads dropped two tenths, Brooklyn nearly half a point and New Girl was down two tenths failing to crack a 2. I think that might equal the shows series low (but might be wrong).

Lucky 7 is a goner, the CBS lineup is holding up although PoI isn't doing great in the demo although the actual ratings may bit better, I think SHIELD still is going to get a full season order.

Very disappointed about Brooklyn Nine-Nine (a gonner surely?), Golbergs and Shield

Surprised at how hefty the drop was for SHIELD. There was always going to be of course, but 32% ? Yikes.

I don't think SHIELD is in any immediate danger of not getting a back order (unless it has another 30% drop next week). The concern for ABC won't be that its fallen, because that was always going to happen, but how quickly its fallen. As long as it stays around this kind of level though ABC will be over the moon with it and it'll be odds on as their number one or two drama (depending on what Scandal and Grey's do in the weeks to come).

At this point though SHIELD, NCIS and The Voice are all denting one another in the 8PM hour. Just as a comparison point The Voice average a 4.2 in the 8PM hour on Monday night and on Tuesday night it averaged a 3.8. At 9PM it was pretty much stable with a 5.1 on Monday and a 5.0 last night. If we assume CBS and ABC are both taking similar hits at 8PM then you'd have NCIS at a 3.8 and SHEILD at a 3.6. Its going to be interesting to see if ABC stick with SHIELD in this Tuesday night slot over the long term. Their intent was good but...

I'm slightly surprised by how badly Person of Interest is holding up on Tuesday night to be honest. Its down an entire point year-on-year. It was always going to drop a little with the move to 10PM but that's a long way down. And it would seem a series low.

Very disappointed about Brooklyn Nine-Nine (a gonner surely?), Golbergs and Shield
Its hard to tell with Fox. They stuck with Mindy not just for an entire season but renewed it as well. I think they'll probably stick with Brooklyn Nine-Nine through to the new year at least especially given that the rest of the block is such a huge mess. Dads I'm less confident on.
