The show could be hosted by anyone and the ratings would be invunerable. Its the quality of show which is tip top at the moment. Its on fire with the format at the moment. Id like Alan Carr and Melanie Sykes!

Completely agree. Casual viewers won't care about said character being killed off in EastEnders (in my view), whereas a long standing character dying in Coronation Street is a fairly big event in the show.

Interestingly Strictly has put what will clearly be the best dance of the night just before the clash, instead of having it close the show. They also seem to be ending with those who would like pull in the younger viewers.

I agree with those missing Bruce, he's not great but does a better job than Tess, whereas Claudia is doing a better job at being Tess.

It will all depend on whether the ratings hold up well or at least ok for the live shows. If they are around last years figures they may blink first.

No praise for Claudia please - some on here will have the vapours as she is regarded as the worse presenter in the history of television to some.

Claudia is a fantastic presenter on "Strictly Come Dancing" ... playing "All Creatures Great and Small" music during Anton and Fiona intro! Why cant BBC One bring this back for a post "Strictly Come Dancing" slot. It would get millions its so fondly remembered. Reboot it! They dont need "Atlantis"

The said character who was spoilered so I wont name him - is anything but popular - although thats not exactly the point - its the story and how well its written that would be the hope for increased interest.

The 2008 live show figures were a bit erratic for this reason. A clash of 25 minutes would shave off 2m from a non clash show.

Also a big event out of the show too. Probably more comparable is Michelle Keegan - she's got a profile outside the show too and generally Corrie is much better at doing that at the moment while EastEnders hasn't really had any breakthrough newcomers for some time and isn't quite as media savvy as it once was - although maybe it's a case that the media is less interested.

I think you may find a lot of people disagree with that. She's been great tonight and so has the show.

I like Claudia W, think she did a fine job on SCD tonight.

XFactor have changed their judges homes format this year. Normally they only reveal the results in the Sunday episode. But this year, they are revealing results in today's episode. They really want people to watch it live on a Saturday rather than recording it or just skipping it and watching only Sunday's episode. The changes theyve made to the live phone voting is also to try and make people watch live on a Saturday.

They need to though. X Factor's dying, isn't it?

Interesting choice of promotion after Strictly tonight: Original British Drama on CBBC (Wolfblood, The Dumping Ground, Wizards vs Aliens) got trailed along with the BBC One OBD trail and the Children in Need and Doctor Who teasers.

X Factor just don't seem able capable of 'changing things up' (as they'd say), do they? Judges houses really stands out like nothing else so far this series. Same old sob stories (which are supposed to be banned). Cliched, fake and boring crap is an understatement.

Entertaining mix tonight with Teas and Claudia coping admirably. But this type of show really flies with a quick-witted entertainment host.

He's a big character D.M.N. I know he's not maybe iconic but he's a popular character. DTC has already announced more in his first 2 months than Newman did all year so I am confident things will improve. But if EE is still only just getting 6m on Friday in February then I will be getting seriously worried.

But I think DTC like his old mate Santer knows how to create buzz around these shows something you never felt Newman could even think of doing. He's got a big job to do but I'm confident he can turn the old whale around.

Looking at the figures last year EE really lost momentum towards the end of the year especially through the summer. Come Christmas it reeled out a few good eps and gained it's traditional festive bounce. That will most probably happen again this year, how big the bounce is depend on quality and buzz (Danny Dyer whether you like him or not will help). The big question is whether it can keep hold of it "Christmas" viewers into the new year. Last year if you look on BARB EE was reasonably okay until March when it totally ran out of gas due to Newman's pathetic policy of absolutely no stories what so ever.

EE need's to build before Christmas some momentum, keeping nicely above 7m would be a start. It need's to have a nice big Christmas which I think will happen and then it can try to hold onto those viewers and when Christmas come's along in 2014 hopefully the bounce will come from even more people who stopped watching regularly.

But there is no denying what a state it's in, I thin it's got marginally better recently but it's still poor. Let's see what happen's!!!

Judges Houses is where they seem to be caught about what to do. They've found it easy to alter the auditions, Boot Camp and the live shows but Judges Houses seems stuck in a timewarp.

Not a bad show so far, though.
