The same argument could apply for I'm a Celebrity - but ratings count. I do agree though CBS should free up an hour by simply axing one airing per cycle of both The Amazing Race and Survivor and instead air one in the autumn and one in the Spring. It could help both shows - but in reality I suspect Amazing Race would soon get dumped completely and Survivor would return to two series a year.

His album is out this year, so job already done.

Exactly - and for The Indian Doctor of all things. I know they have to fit any local drama in when they can, but 9pm Thursday for what is a daytime drama is nonsense. They'd have been better off dropping Antiques Roadshow for a couple of weeks.

LOL - I'm sure I probably said it in August, July, June and every time the topic cropped up. And technically only two hours of the ITV schedule would be the same as last year.
BBC1 isn't going to venture from the norm - Christmas Day is really just a reflection of how poor their entertainment state is, and with a weak comedy slate at the moment they don't have many options in that avenue either. Miranda won't happen, Mrs Browns Boys probably will, but they need something really to air at 9pm too. The revival of Gavin and Stacey can't come soon enough for them.

Not just family films too - thanks to Internationals and this season at least the FA Cup the BBC should take advantage of not having Match of the Day once a month and air films in a relatively decent post-watershed slot.

“The History Boys. Pretty stellar cast list and was BAFTA-nominated.”
British TV is so poor really at promoting British Film (as is British cinema). Films like this have a cast a TV drama would die for and as a TV drama it would probably bring in a very healthy rating - but they're rarely backed as much as they should be for their TV premiere (both by channels and viewers), and more often than not channels (including the BBC) would rather screen a Hollywood flop than give a decent slot to a British film.
