Open All Hours back for a Christmas special on BBC One
![]() http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/lat...christmas.html ![]() Who could have predicted that?! No doubt at all this will be the 9pm main feature against DA with Mrs Brown. David Jason front and centre in the BBC1 Christmas, what could possibly go wrong? ![]() However... Quote:
Terrible idea. Arkwright IS Open All Hours. Also shows how rubbish the current sitcoms are that we have to look to revivals.
Granville was the support, the foil to his uncle. The Ronnie Barker sized hole in this is going to be massive! Quote:
Strictly consolidated to 9.33m (+1.52m) on Friday and 10.53m (+1.42m) on Saturday, brilliant timeshifts there. The Friday episode is now up on the last two years.
Atlantis got 7.36m (+1.73m) very impressive. |

Wow! Who would predict that! A new Christmas Special of Open All Hours! such random news! Last seen in 1985! The star of the show is no longer with us. It should rate well, but I don't think it is going to rate amazingly. Lets be honest, it is going to be a totally different show with just the same title of a sitcom last made in the 80's. Mrs Browns Boys will still be the highest rating comedy on Christmas Day I imagine.
Open All Hours Mrs Browns Boys Doctor Who Call The Midwife Not Going Out Death Comes To Pemberley Little Fockers The Whale Citizen Khan Catherine Tate: Nan Strictly Come Dancing Gangsta Granny Mouse and Mole (animation) Quite a strong line up there! |

1 THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF (TUE 2000) 7.32
In the words of Kate Bush - wow, wow, wow, wow, wow! Stonking rating! 8 million for the final is a certainty surely?

Broadchurch asides, does this make Atlantis the biggest brand new drama this year? |

I thought the idea of The One Ronnie was awful, but as early Christmas night viewing it kind of worked! If Open All Hours gets an early evening slot before DW then it could do well for settting up the entire evening.

Open All Hours without Ronnie Barker is like Columbo without Peter Falk
It misses the point somewhat |

I thought a lot of the comedy in The One Ronnie was weak. People watched out of goodwill.

Its only the grey army thats propping up SCD. With Brucie going soon, you'd wonder if the oldies will still have a reason to tune in?

It misses the point somewhat Ronnie Barker was the best thing about Open All Hours. Granville wasn't one of the all time great comedy characters. |

I didn't include Broadchurch because it was never intended as a returning drama. I recognise it as 2013's biggest new drama launch, I also thoroughly enjoyed it. But since we are in the Autumn schedules, no drama has been exactly spectacular. That's why I said "Broadchurch asides".

Exactly!
Ronnie Barker was the best thing about Open All Hours. Granville wasn't one of the all time great comedy characters. If only ITV would follow up the vague interest in doing 3D versions of the old cartoons, but I digress...... OAH without Ronnie Barker? No thanks |

Shocking rating for XFactor. Beaten comfortably head to head by Strictly and then in the 8pm hour, its rating didn't even go up and it peaked with less than 10million viewers
. The Sunday shows are now struggling too and that is well below the ratings of previous years. Judges Houses Sunday episode is normally one of the biggest episodes of the series! Looks like people are getting bored of this show, 4 episodes in a row have rated below year on year comparisons. It is in a poor state and even after the massive promo push and changes, viewers are bored! Well done SCD for beating XFactor .And it peaked with 10.1m so I don't see an 8 or a 9 in there. ![]() You seem to be on repeat with this kind of post. Your fault for overpredicting, that XF was to beat SCD by a million. |

Last week's X Factor shows timeshifted to 8.96m and 10.50m. So higher than 2008 on the whole.
ITV are going to have to work hard to drum up a lot of momentum to ensure that the figures don't go backwards again when we get into the live shows (at this moment in time, I think they will). |

Hassaan, you know as well as I do that at the time of broadcast SCD won. XF only wins when you add in the 78 repeats each show gets. Can't you just start ignoring Samuel?
