12.1m for Downton Abbey in the officials!

9.2m and 10.8m for TXF. Pretty good for a dying show!

Mrs Browns Boys will still be the highest rating comedy on Christmas Day I imagine.”

Roy Clarke= not famous for original ideas.

Eventually this thread will get to the stage where everyone ignores everyone else and we are left with random musings.

It seems to rate better without him!!

Is that with HD and +1?

As the biggest X Factor fan I know on here you always fear the worst. Most shows are down but it doesn't mean they're not doing well. They're just not doing as well but still tower above shows around them.

Wow but more importantly what was the timeshift for the Stepping Out finale?

With HD, not +1.

I obviously want it to do well but I try to be realistic at the same time.

I'm not saying it's not doing well - it is, but had they scheduled it right this weekend it could have done better. It's down to ITV to get people interested in this year's acts though if they don't want the ratings dipping again.

You see Hassaan? You worry too much. Most people here know The X Factor is still bringing in decent numbers.

BBC's 2 hours of comedy from yesteryear now in progress (Keeping Up Appearances x 2, Are You Being Served?, and Allo Allo).
Will be interesting to see if this becomes a staple afternoon's entertainment for many, maybe at the further expense of Countdown and DOND.

Reviving Birds Of A Feather with original cast - awful idea

Reviving Open All Hours without the lead - brilliant idea

The shop is the lead in Open All Hours!!!!

It will be interesting to watch. I am in two minds about Birds of a Feather but I will watch that as well. I am a sucker for nostalgia.

I've offered no comment on either.

I could go on about Pat & Cabbage for hours, though.

No doubt at all this will be the 9pm main feature against DA with Mrs Brown.

David Jason front and centre in the BBC1 Christmas, what could possibly go wrong?

However...

I agree with this too.

Granville was the support, the foil to his uncle. The Ronnie Barker sized hole in this is going to be massive!

Big, big numbers. Atlantis way way above expectations!!”

A series without Arkwright would be a bad idea, a special at Christmas that is decently written is a nice idea, nostalgia an all.

As I say it's a nice idea and I will be watching but missing the lead it will be strange. I special is fine though and it's only half an hour. S that hole in there Christmas schedule is looking filled now.

The thing with a Christmas special is that people will tune in for old times sake, but that doesn't work for a series. Maybe it would work if it is really funny.

That could be paired with MBB now after EastEnders, you then have the David Williams Book adaptation, Mr stink did well last year so I could see that as the opener on Christmas Day. Strictly will be there and DW in a better slot due to the regeneration.

I know it did alright but I don't want to see CTM on Christmas day, Boxing day if perfect.

No surprise to see the vultures out in force regarding The X Factor today. It's absolutely a poor rating but it is just that: one rating. The circumstances were quite different from last year. If episodes continue to post 1.4m declines on last year then people have a point but I see no signs of this being a sustained thing and the series so far is going well and up on last year. There's not much point with comparisons with 2010 at this point. It's way way down but it has been for over a year now and the situation hasn't changed either way for a long time. It's just people repeating themselves over and over again.

What on earth does the utterly awful Pat & Cabbage have to do with either of those revivals though?

Pat & Cabbage is absolute shit, there's no denying it. But it still seems like bringing it up just for the sake of it.

C5+1 BODY OF PROOF (TUE 24 SEPTEMBER 2358) 123,000
Looks like yet another showing of Season 1 got off to a strong start, with a late screening scoring one of C5+1's biggest audiences of the week.

It's 1973, welcome to Life On Mars

Suspect they will do something similar for Allo Allo and Cagney and Lacey.

Yes I'm a bit bemused as to why people are suddenly comparing it to 2010 once again. It's not like the show's fall from that phenomenal (and absolutely unsustainable) peak hasn't already been well established. Surely y-o-y comparisons are more helpful in ascertaining how the show is performing in its current state. Otherwise it just looks like people cheerfully kicking the boot in...

Not to say last night's rating isn't somewhat disappointing. I was expecting more.

(Stunning timeshift for Downton btw).

Wasn't it me that said that SCD will beat X Factor yesterday but you didn't believe me, I was right. Wonder if the retro programs on BBC2 will rate well
