ITV Ratings: The Jonathan Ross Show returns with an audience peak of 4.4m, averaging 3.9m/24% share

Good start for it there in the late slot. the share is very good. Good as ever for Strictly. Poor start for The X Factor live shows. They'll be a bit concerned at that result I suspect. I thought the show was good last night though so I guess we'll have to see where it goes from here.
That's a brilliant start, despite having a smaller lead-in than last year. It had 3.2m inc +1 last year.

It's gaining momentum that ITV are currently struggling with at the moment. A bit of momentum will help it.

I do hope it'll pick up as I did think it was better than last year, no matter what Samuel says.

It's not going to pick up much Score. There is no evidence so far this series to suggest there will be any big uplift down the line. It has been hovering around 8million-8.5m most of the series and last night it took a dip. If anything, I would say it is most likely going to stay in the 7s, as remember last year the first live show was the most watched until the final. Interestingly, XF's most watched Saturday episode this series so far is still the first episode, the same thing happened in 2011 too.

Wow. I didn't see that one coming. Much higher than I was expecting. It was a very good show last night.

The jonathan Ross rating will fall very sharply over the next few weeks. It had the easiest competition it possibly could have from BBC1. Normally BBC1 airs Match Of The Day which is much stronger competition than that Rolling STones thing they had yesterday. Expect a drop of a million next week for Ross once MOTD returns and they dont have the novelty big name guests.

I think this rating is ok considering SCD had a head start and a 30 minute overlap.also the x factor did not finish until 10:15 which is a much more difficult slot.

SCD had a peak of 11 million which is great but it is not completly street ahead yet as x factor has managed an 11.5 million peak on the sunday two weeks ago.
You're insisting on comparing apples with pears again. Sunday nights are much more highly-viewed than Saturdays!

EDIT: Those shares were wrong, weren't they?
Thanks, they were the duff ones from DS. I've corrected them.

I do find it quite odd that people who hate a particular show/channel never stop talking about it and just happen to have every rating for it at hand.

Die-hard XF/SCD fans have no idea probably what last years show rated but the people who can't stand it have every average, peak and share noted ready to attack. Very very strange.

I cant stand XFactor, Cowell or the people running the channel due to their smugness. They think they are God's gift.
oh sorry i thought that was BBC who spends 20 million on chairs just to get one over on another channel.

The reason this ratings chat is often focussed on a handful of programmes is merely a reflection of the way TV has gone.

Over the whole year, how many programmes are actually capable of getting significant ratings? It's perhaps about twelve.

Broadcasters are focussing on just a handful of programmes as well. Most of their output is filler.

It's very simple. What you have to do is go on this link: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/ratings/?page=2 , instead of page=2, type in page=14, and then the ratings for the previous year come up.

Also all the XF ratings are here posted by Hassann: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showp...&postcount=745

Yes Sunday/Saturday nights are different but the show clearly still has the fans wanting to tune in on a much higher competition night.

XF and SCD are both dated crap, why 9million+ watch either,
Because they enjoy it, because they see it as goo entertainment (rather than your "dated crap")?.

People need to realise there is some quality programming on if they can just be bothered to go past channel 5...
Saturday nights has always been a night for general (and popular) entertainment, something where you simply sit down in front of the TV, relax and enjoy. Indeed, it wasn't that long ago when on this very thread, people were remarking upon the BBC's lack of a general entertainment programme on a Saturday evening!

I think it's really odd to start a thread called 'X Factor's in ratings crisis' when you hate the show.

You really are taking this to seriously, how can you hate a independent company employing thousands of people in the UK
that have to produce programs that people will watch in order to make a profit, you just dont make sense.

I dont hate them, just saying what particular elements of Itv I dislike the most: mainly Cowell and his shows and also any massively hyped up project [Titanic, Breathless, Red or Black etc].

Very strong for Jonathan Ross last night, the guests were good though. Next week I suspect those ratings will fall fairly sharply.

Brilliant for SCD, which continues to soar.
Also no football this week - so I agree it will probably drop next week. To be honest I have become really bored with him now. Norton just seems so much fresher somehow.

My goodness, you're becoming as protective of ITV as Samuel is to the BBC. When you slag Samuel off, stop and read your posts too.
Samuel just seems to be on a warpath every day slagging off any ITV show, it gets tedious very quickly, but as per usual he is so obsessed with hating ITV hat he spends all his time making negative posts.

These are the same group of people who are trying to find ITV programnming inwhich to 'crush' Doctor Who with on 23rd November. As I said yesterday, there is an image on here of BBC and ITV schedulers in combat gear with machine guns trying to win a war over its competitor. In reality, both broadcasters recognise the importance of certain shows. ITV probably have little intention of damaging DW's 50th Anniversary because while British shows thrive in the UK and abroad it's good for British TV in general regardless of what channel it's on. What would ITV have to gain from crushing DW? What would the BBC gain from crushing or denting DA? To damage a show of great credibility is to damage the reputation of British TV in general. Where is the sense in that?

I think rivalry between ITV and BBC is much friendlier and more grown up in reality than it is on here.

As no BBC source has reported Atlantis' ratings, I think it is fair to assume it dropped once again last night to maybe mid 4s. A disappointing show it has turned out to be ratings wise but Im not too surprised.

And you spend your time slagging off Samuel & the BBC, so really there's no winner in this situation.

Seriously, even doing that for something you have no interest in apart from gloating about, is sad.

I think i'll just go back to reading the articles instead of becoming involved in this lame duck chat again.

Glad Wossy did well. Good start to the series and he had some great guests. Being after X Factor and not facing Match Of The Day helped.

Wow at the Strictly ratings. The X Factor clash isn't hurting it as much as I thought. I hold my hands up! I thought a lack of starpower would hinder the show. Wrong again.

No Atlantis ratings yet. Is that because it's down?
