It is over in terms of Xf beating Scd this year. Won't happen, there's no signs of upward trajectory. Xf is remaining static between 8-9million against fairly average competition on Saturdays so far. It's not going to do much better when it starts facing much tougher competition in the form of Scd and Atlantis. This is Strictlys year once again.
If it's any consolation, it rated not much lower than the final Saturday audition show in 2009 (9.3m). Not sure if you'd make that a fair comparison.
I don't think the ratings are that bad for x factor and for a show to still be peaking with nearly 10 million viewers is still a popular show.
However I will say last nights show was verging on appalling regarding talent stream.
it important to remember when comparing strictly v x factor in today market it virtually not relevant because strictly mostly appeals to an older audience who are not as likely to use catch-up services
whereas x factor are shooting themselves in the foot by repeating the show to often a younger audience more likely to be going out. starting to put the show on to late also you can watch all the auditions on youtube.
they should ban performances on youtube and ban repeats and don't offer it on a catch up service just maybe then ratings will improve.

It's not a fair comparison. That final auditions show in 2009 must've faced Strictly. It will be fortunate to get 8million this year if it faces Scd for more than 30min overlap.

I agree, XF will not be beating Strictly this year. Not that I think it ever stood a chance of doing so to be honest, last year Strictly was getting 10m+ overnights which XF won't be matching. Having said that, I'm sure ITV will cope with overnights of 8-9million every week once again given how things could have gone this year. There won't be much of a ratings war, but if XF still does well then ITV should be happy.
I'll be really interested to see how Atlantis does though, as that has the potential to either dent or boost XF slightly depending on which way it goes. It really should launch well though. Back in 2008 Merlin launched at 6.65m out of a weaker SCD lead-in than the one Atlantis will get and against a stronger XF than the one Atlantis will face, so surely they'll be hoping to match, if not beat that audience next weekend.

It did yeah. No idea what the point in comparing with 2009 is when we are all aware the show is down from the heights it hit in 2009-11. Pointless comparison. We are in a different era now, and have been for over a year.

That's got nothing to do with the ratings. I think it will hinder the show rather than help it.
Josh don't know if youve noticed but Xfactors YouTube hits have been appalling so far this season. Most videos are only getting between 100,000 to 200,000 views. A fraction of the million+ views most of its videos, particularly of standout singers, used to get. Online buzz on YouTube has shrunk hugely this year for some reason.

XF has clearly found its level and will probably stick at 8-9m on Saturdays and 9-10m on Sundays for the entire series. No big surge and no big fall.

Assuming what ratings are going to be is very dangerous these days - as the last few weeks have showed. SCD may keep last years levels or not depending on how the casting goes down when they are seen on screen. Odds are SCD to be ahead but its not a given.

Granted not as many views that's a fair comment however a few auditions are still over 1 million views and some are 2-3 million views.
the difference is if you compare to SCD the dances struggle to get above 50,000.
also I didn't just say youtube I was also highlighting the fact the amount of times they repeat the show and also have the catch-up service.
SCD doesn't top iplayer very much.

it shows at the start of the series wasn't getting very much but the strength of the line-up improved the ratings.
based on this year's line-up they will struggle to match last years rating I think they can hope for 9-9.5 million but won't be hitting 10 million for average rating

The x factor was awful last night. I thought the whole show was like an episode of the xtra factor. If it had any decent competition, it would have really suffered.
