That resonated with me as I have an 11 yr gap . Daughter was like a little mother to son. Of course there was no 1D back then but she did introduce him to the red hot chilli peppers, the Kinks and the Beatles

If Susan Boyle's album isnt a threat to Midnight Memories hitting #1 surely the news that Gary Barlow is releasing an album now also in 25th Nov is.......

I don't think Gary has the same popularity as Robbie and also think he lost fans after x factor. Look at his twitter followers but then an older demo graph you never know. But it will be big sales at that time of year anyway and sales matter as well as chart positions

Maybe in England, though I didn't think he was that big... Unless all the Take That fans decide to unite against 1D of course...
But I don't think that he is that big in the rest of the world.

But all the big releases seem to happen in october/november/december in the UK from what I understand, so a chart fight is normal. Who knows if someone else won't come in last minute too like it happened with Avicii & Best Song Ever?
As long as they have good sales, I think it's fine.

the guardian: "Can retail learn from One Direction?" http://www.theguardian.com/media-net...irection-music

Quote:
“
The music industry is often touted as an example of a business model that failed to adapt sufficiently quickly to the digital age: CD sales fell off a cliff while digital revenues failed – by quite some considerable way – to make up the shortfall. Yet the music industry has learnt many lessons and retailers would do well to heed these. The success of One Direction achieved through social media is a case in point.

Part 8!

Susan Boyle's album sales have been declining virtually every year. Looks like the whole hype she had upon the Britain's Got Talent appearance is fizzing out...

It would be interesting to see the battle between X Factor alumni and an X Factor judge. It's a bit early to make a judgement though as we haven't heard either.

UK & Europe?
If it had been Europe only, it could have been the tour dates...

Don't these numbers look a bit ridiculous?
On the one hand they seem to be counting the global Selling power / worth of the 1D brand "the five-piece are worth a whopping £775million" (which is far from the actual income for the individual members of 1D, the billion band BS was about the 1D brand, not the boys' incomes),
and the other contestants only seem to have their income as the deciding figure (Leona: "an estimated fortune of £12million, thanks, in part, to the £5million record deal and commanding up to £1million for a personal appearance"), and the members of JLS are counted as individuals & not a group...
So many discrepencies!

I believe that the boys are among the richest X factor acts individually, but I think you should compare the same type of figures to be accurate.

excited to hear niall-on-guitars in Midnight Memories http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/171...ll-horan.jhtml julian bunetta also tells of how hands-on the boys are on their 3rd album:

Quote:
“"They really dictated it. The boys were the ones spearheading it and painting the picture of what they wanted to do and what they wanted it to sound like."
