I'm purely going off the fact that Cher Lloyd has over 5 million followers.. If she can do it I'm sure Alexandra can get close to those numbers at some stage. And people like Cheryl Cole have 4 million+ and she isn't exactly massive outside of the UK.

I wouldn't be so sure. Cher and Cheryl aren't really comparable to Alex. They appeal to more audiences because they are pop bimbos, they are popular for that reason. Plus Cher specifically targets the 16-25 demo which is most active on social media.

Alex's numbers will go up slowly unless she has a massive breakthrough. Look at Tamar for example, before her new album she was at 550k, since then she's had a #2 album on BB200 and #1 in Physicals and R&B, a platinum hit single, launched a successful talk show hosting role with The Real, won Soul Train/BET awards, nominated for Grammys, is on two reality TV shows and has performed on nearly every major US show, yet her followers only increased to around 980k, though her instagram is basically at 1m followers now, but only after 1 year of heavy promotion.

We don't know what kind of promotion Alex will get. If she gets promo like that, then it would be incredible for her, but for now, I'm not going to expect her SM numbers to skyrocket just yet. It's going to take at least a year before we see the full effects of any US success she might have.

Alex can't compete with Cheryl in that way as her career is built on looks. Cheryl pretty and white. Alex I'd.pretty and black. Now which one has all the men liking her on Facebook? It speaks for itself. Alex would need consistent US success to build. But tbh her video views and the sales and streaming are the most important. Look at Leonas numbers. More success than cher and Cheryl combined. Social media is about image not music.

You're all going way to deep in this.. It's just followers. All I was saying is if Alex actually achieves the success they hope for her she could get a few million followers. Cher is a massive flop atm and her followers are high. Also no offence but Tamar isn't great.. Opening sales were decent but she's stalled since week 2. She's also incredibly unattractive and seems a bit of a wannabe so I'd be aiming a lot higher than her success for Alex. Also, I think it's clear Alex is still maintaining some elements of pop so she won't be going completely left field.

Totally agree with this post. I don't think it's what Alex is going for either. I'd rather she focused on a complete package rather than relying on being a media personality to stay successful. That's ok to do between albums, but it would be better all-round if she was seen as a credible artist.

I think if she releases an R&B song it's not likely that we will see a high peak on the Hot 100 because of the recent rule changes. The chart favours pop artists, particularly those with a big following on social media, however that doesn't necessarily bring in sales.

I'm just trying to keep my expectations down because expecting too much only leads to more disappointment. I'd rather be pleasantly surprised.

I think you've both jumped the gun a bit. I never said I'm expecting 5 million followers in the first year. I just meant that if you look at how many followers Cher has gained since launching in the US (considering she's an annoying brat who nobody likes) then it's fair to say Alexandra will reach over 1 million after the introduction to the US market is complete, hopefully with a moderate hit and the album.

Well I don't speak much Spanish so I won't be able to pick on the details. Thank goodness she's not singing in French lmao, I find it weird when singers get the pronunciation wrong.

But then Alex pulled off the Baby Tornado remix pretty well, so I'm excited to hear her sing in a different language.
