This isn't quite correct, Leona got the big promo in the US but only after 'Bleeding love' started getting big radio airplay and it got to 1 on the iTunes chart before Leona even started the US promotion.

Please get your facts right.. Even before Leona won Xfactor Clive Davis said 'Win or lose I want to take Leona to the US'.. The writing was on the wall..Simon supported the situation ..Alex did not have much support on her US venture..

Leona had a global buzz she was an xfactor phenomenon unfortunately for Alex she was the second female talent she followed the world acclaim of leona and so didn't get that first try and unique budget she got pushed and opportunity but it wasn't leona scale at all

I'm a regular reader of this thread, but don't believe I've posted before. I think that Alex fans might have to face the fact that a music career is just not going to happen at this stage. Things in the UK have been more or less dead since the Heartbreak on Hold era and there's little goodwill from the media to help her to make a comeback. As for the American market, you really have to work hard to make it there, not just do the occasional gig and cosy up to the big players in hip-hop and R&B. I'm not being negative. I would rather see Alex have some kind of career in the entertainment industry, whether it be musicals or going into gospel music. There's no point dwelling on what might have been.

Alex had a global buzz as well though. She was featured in Billboard magazine and RocNation manager Jay Brown was talking about her. Not to mention she had loads of American blogs following her thanks to the Beyoncé duet.

I don't know what happened but I think the biggest mistake was not taking Overcome to the US with All Night Long. If you look at it, literally EVERY other successful XF act has had a shot at America apart from Alex. Even JLS, Rebecca, Olly, Cher etc.

It was that missed opportunity that ultimately killed her career imo.

She did have buzz 50 cent wanted her in a music video during Alex recording overcome and Diddy mentioned her talent but what happened was there was no capitalisation of Alex during overcome recorded, if i was Simon I would've got Alex on that 50 track and beyonce tour slot you don't turn opportunities like that down you just don't

I don't think L.A was ever involved with Alex tbh. Alex was still signed to Epic in the US when he took over, but then after he restructured the label, Alex no longer had a deal.

This is such a mess. She should just have stayed with SYCO and waited for the album release or agreed to do another dance album with RCA UK. At least she still would have been releasing commercial music and not becoming a west end/ gospel performer.

I'm not really surprised her deal fell through if WDHG represents the quality of the material on the album. Just as well she has the Bodyguard.

I said this weeks ago.. That's why I think there's such a huge difference between NMY/Shine and WDHG... I think a deal fell through and she's gone back to recording in a crap studio with JPL like New Rules

I really hope that Shine and NMY are actually on the album though, they sounded like they had real potential especially considering how sh*tty quality the sound was, I can only imagine how they'd sound through actual speakers!

Sorry, but are you for real?!! People here are ranting on and on about Alex not doing anything, but in reality you have no idea how hard it is. You can't just ring up a label and arrange a meeting. Things don't work like that. I also think people are overestimating her so called "contacts" within the industry. Being photographed in a studio with Usher and being tweeted about by P Diddy does not mean she's friends with them. She probably doesn't even have their numbers. You all need to cut her some slack. You're all saying she's not doing enough, but really you have absolutely no idea what she has or hasn't been doing. And all of this "you have to be cruel to be kind rubbish" is just a crap excuse those of you like to use to excuse all the abusr and negativity you give her. I don't blame her for unfollowing some of you. Fan or not a fan, she doesn't deserve to be spoken to the way some of you do.

Just wanted to know because they are leona fans and I was sceptical as to why the followed me. I thought it might be zack.
