Syco are a terrible terrible label. Under-resourced and overstretched. The only act they can actually sustain is 1D but only because the group is so popular that it sells itself, and even then they overworked them and mismanaged Zayn's departure.

Every other act they have had has either been dropped or left as a result of their incompetence. Olly is doing OK, but they tried to push him in America and failed miserably.

I still think it's criminal that they didn't give Alex the US debut she really needed during the Overcome era.

She only meant she has one show left until xmas. She's already confirmed she's carrying the tour on until June.

Did anybody see Alexandra on the ABBA Christmas party programme? What did she sing and was she interviewed? I was away for Christmas and I'd rather not sit through the likes of Susan Boyle and Union J.

Nobody mentioned she was there.

Don't know, but it may be that she pulled out for some reason. Can't believe that she wouldn't have been mentioned after it aired. They talked about Shane Ward, for God's sake.

It was an awful show, so cheap and tacky and full of soap stars...and Union J. She was listed as appearing but wasn't on the show and they didn't mention her either so I'm guessing she pulled out. I'm glad she did as it would have been sad to see her appearing with that lot. It was sad seeing Shayne award perform an Abba song with a soap star. It was like karaoke.

I still find it weird how Inna released Tonight.

Apparently Alex was contracted with the writers to release it as a single but RCA didn't want to, then somehow Inna got it.

I hope Alex got some kind of credit for Inna's version as well, because I can hear her vocals in the background on the Inna version.

Shayne is in ITV's biggest soap as a regular character. He's more high profile than most XF winners these days so it's no wonder he was talked about and performed with a "soap star".

What I meant was that he shouldn’t be performing on a crappy Abba tribute show with a soap star. He has a fantastic voice and he should be huge. He had a very successful music career. He was shafted by Cowell though, just like many of the others. So not his fault, just sad to see him having to resort to performing on a show like this. I’d like to think Alex will never end up doing anything like this. Right now she doesn’t need to as she has The Bodyguard which is at least keeping her in the realm of music and improving her credibility. Correct me if I’m wrong, but judging by her Twitter it seems like she’s finally finishing The Bodyguard in the summer. She seems to be saying she’ll be working on music again then, but she said a while ago she would be up for doing Strictly Come Dancing, and with The Bodyguard finished by the time the series starts, I wouldn’t be surprised if she turns up on the show…this delaying her music once again. I’d rather she didn’t do it, but I can see it happening.

I agree - Shayne should be bigger in the music world than he is. But I'm glad he's getting success somewhere.

I still think Strictly Come Dancing would be amazing for Alex. She has stage confidence, SCD viewers most probably watched XF when she was a contestant, she can be very endearing and ditzy and the show is getting huge ratings these days.

I have to agree. Alex needs a high profile reality show to make her relevant again. I just don't believe she will make it in the music industry without an even bigger boost to her profile than the BG is currently giving her. In all fairness, the BG has done wonders for her popularity and her confidence but she now needs to follow that up with something bigger and SCD is perfect. She can dance!!!

TV can work for Alex. Look at the reaction from First Dates.

I think that's a much better plan than trying to get a slot on a reality show like Strictly Come Dancing. What would be the point in it? She is never going to be s successful pop act again. She could however carve out a very successful career in the West End. The critics reviews and reception from the public for the Bodyguard have been beyond what she could have hoped for and she is clearly having the time of her life.

Exactly. Alexandra has so much to offer and it is very possible that SCD could turn her career around. Look at Alesha Dixon - when she participated in 2007, she hadn't scored a hit in 4 years and her solo career was a non starter. Similarly, Alexandra's last hit was 4 years ago but you could argue Alexandra was more well known at her peak than Alesha was. She's probably one of the most memorable X Factor winners, and she provided one of the most memorable moments ever with Beyonce and even though her music career has dipped a bit, she has still achieved enough in her first year or so to merit being on the show. Plus, like Alesha, she has a very bubbly personality. SCD would be mad not to sign her.

I'm glad she's doing another musical from June. If it's a choice between another musical or Strictly, then it's 100% another musical. That's what will make people take her seriously and that's what will continue to help her gain credibility. She's actually making use of her voice and her talent. With Strictly, even if she won yes it would catapult her profile, however then what? Presenting jobs? She's not going to win Strictly and then magically she'll be back in the charts again. Playing the lead in West End shows and being on the stage six nights a week is far more credible than being on a reality show like Strictly. I think it's a no brainer.

Exactly! As the saying goes, " Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."

I wonder if Alex is taking over from Beverley Knight in Memphis, as Beverley is moving on to Cats.

Alex could potentially be doing the Sister Act tour. They have teased a "star" casting announcement for Deloris (the main role) for tomorrow. I mean i have no idea it's her but it would kinda fit and i think it would be a good fit for her.

And will give a proper career, something that will sustain her into long in the future.

I want to see Alex the recording artist back though and doing another musical is delaying that, but if she is happy then that is all that matters really.

Strictly would still be an amazing gig though, if she went on, won and people warmed to her, it could open up the doors to some record labels though. I don't think people should turn their nose up at Strictly. Labels know Alex is hugely talented, I bet the issue they have is not seeing her as a popular person, a show like Strictly could change that.

That's amazing for her, hope it goes well for her and she continues to build on the acclaim she has started to build.
