I agree. Music will now just be a side project to her. I'm pleased for her - she's getting great praise and not hate. It doesn't surprise me she loves it.

She always wanted to just sing. She's danced, sung, written a couple of songs, had hits, her own tour and is a national house hold name. She's been very successful and is adding strings to her bow.

She's still very young in terms of theatre work, so she can go very far. I hope after Sister Act she gets a full acting role in theatre (if she keeps pushing into theatre) to solidify her credentials.

I don't think people should turn their nose up at Strictly. Labels know Alex is hugely talented, I bet the issue they have is not seeing her as a popular person, a show like Strictly could change that.”

I kind of agree with this as I do think part of the problem is Alex's public image post X-Factor. There'll always be "haters" but I know a lot of people who went off her, especially after the infamous guest judge slot on X-Factor. That really was a Joss Stone at the BRITs moment for Alex. Perhaps not Strictly which would take up a lot of her time, but something that would remind people how likeable she can be.

just let her release music when she's ready, obviously a lot of politics involved thats delaying otherwise she would do it if she had the opportunity.

at least she is actually doing something worth while and lead.

Remember that likeability is fickle and is problematic. When something like XF happens, they don't just see a person but an archetype of a person, or what the public think they should be. People aren't just viewed objectively but through a lens. She was criticised for having a different opinion to Louis and challenging him on it. She was a bit hyper, but then Sharon Osbourne was wild as well, but didn't get the same level of hate. See what I mean? The goalposts and standards are different.

Great news. Funnily enough the show is directed by Craig Revel Horwood.

Great news. Good for her.

The stint in the Bodyguard has obviously showcased her talent and I think, more importantly, her professionalism.

She takes what she does seriously and is not afraid to put in the hard yards, whilst at the same time being open and approachable, wonderful qualities to have as a human being, let alone an entertainer.

So I'm not surprised at all that she's in demand because as Louis once said, " You've got it all,"

I do like quotations so here's another one that's apt. "The harder I work, the luckier I get."

I’m really happy for her. I wonder how long her contract for Sister Act is. There’s quite a few roles in the West End that would suit her, for example Memphis and Cats. Anyway, I’m over the moon for her.

Great news for Alex. Her theatre career seems to be going very well for her.

If she decides not to pursue music in the immediate future, I don't think it would be unrealistic for her to audition for Broadway roles in the future, once her standing in the West End has improved a little more.

It's good news for her. I'm glad she's not doing Memphis, because it would have looked like she was following Beverley again. Hopefully she can make the role in Sister Act her own. It's a shame though that music will most likely just be a sideline from now on, but I don't blame Alex at all.

If she released music at the moment, it's extremely likely she would just flip regardless of what she released. After 'Let It Go' she wasn't stupid, she knew that any other singles released would flop. She was right too, that album did not cut it. I think 'Tonight' not being released might have had more to do with Alex than we think. Sometimes it's better to just stop and draw a line under things before they get worse, and I think that's what happened with that era. Whenever the media write or report about Alex, she's never listed as a flop as they don't really have much they can say in regards to that. If that era had got any wires though then there would be loads they could write, so I'm glad she ended it there. Also, I don't think it's that she doesn't want to release music...she's released a couple of EP's to test the water, but people were just not interested. You could argue that the music wasn't good enough, but there was literally no interested. Nobody really cared. The time just isn't right at the moment in terms of music for her. Maybe it never will be. Or, maybe further down the line if she continues to become credible like she is doing, something might possibly open up for her. I'm really happy for her right now though.

I'm from the US, so didn't really follow Alexandra or know why some here say she became unpopular.

Anyhow I've recently come across her fantastic final audition for X-Factor in 2008. And let me say this. That bravura voice and personality was made for the theater. I'm so glad she's taken this turn in her career., She's too good for pop dance music. After Sister Act, I hope she gets a shot at a revival of Porgy and Bess. She could be one of the great ones.

Too quiet actually.

Is anybody even checking this thread still? What do you think about Alex working with SlimFast?

She has released a new version of her website (finally, the older ones were terrible), also Sister Act has released first song from the soundtrack.

Not sure about the Slimfast thing but she does look fantastic in the advert

It's quiet as not much is going on besides the same.

I'm glad she feels better about her weight. That's the most important.

She does look amazing, that's true. And I actually like it that she is their face. Mostly because she's promoting healthy lifestyle. Going to the gym, eating good food - and looking like a woman. Not a skinny skeleton. It's all good!

SlimFast is a big brand too so she will probably get paid well to do it. Can't get over how amazing she looks. A million miles from the HOH era.

Just seen the Slim Fast advert on ITV, she looks stunning.

God I miss her as a popstar.

She's on the site as well: http://www.slimfast.co.uk/

Had no idea the ads were on TV as I watch everything online these days.

I miss her as a popstar too. I was thinking it would have been great for her to have done a project like Lemonade, but from a black british woman's perspective. That often gets overlooked.

I'm excited to see her in Sister Act. I wonder how her voice will be used!

What's her part? I assume she will sing whatever it is pretty much the way the composer wrote it, just the way her predecessors in the role did.

But she has a great voice and is getting more experience as an actress with every new job. I think this is a great career change for her.

Alex really does look great in the Slim Fast campaign. I've never used their products but I like how they have been using naturally curvy ladies (Alex and Kimberly Walsh) as their most recent spokeswomen. I assume that in Sister Act Alex is playing the main role made famous by Whoopi Goldberg.

I don't think Alex is really capable of a project like Lemonade even on a much smaller budget/scale. Regardless of how much actual creative input Beyonce has in her material, she's very good at picking the right producers and writers. Based on New Rules and Renegade, Alex still needs to acquire that skill.

She seems really happy at the moment and is looking the best she's ever looked. Hope she continues with the theatre, singing side of things. She's doing really well herself. My biggest fear is that she will end up on something like Strictly as a contestant which I really don't want...it exposes people's personalities and I'd hate another situation like the X Factor judging role where people view her as a joke. Right now she's happy and she's doing things with her talent...singing and acting.
