I don't think so, Leona and Alex don't strike me as the type of singers who would try and show others up, I think they would arrange it so they both have big moments and when they come together they aren't trying to out sing each other. I don't think they would try to compete if it ever were to happen.

Jason Derulo FLOPPED last era like same level as Alex. Hit debut single then flop and Warner bros seemed to stick by him as he had a huge solo era, he's the closest example I can think of Alex should try get there they seem faithful ish. Epic had the same sort of thing with ciara not a very successful era but body party saved her ass. It's only because of the la ried launch back in the day why she's still signed to be fair

Alex should ask Rico to introduce her to Scooter Braun. That would be a great match. But she needs someone with industry clout to push her forward. She has Kevin and JoJo on the managerial side, but she needs something on the label/promotional side as well. Simon won't be helping her, so she needs to find someone that will. She's halfway there, but nothing can happen without a major label behind her.

Alex has star quality, but nothing seems to have lined up at the right moment for her yet. Hopefully her luck changes, I mean look at Tamar, she was dropped from 5 labels and it took 10 years for her to get her big break, I hope it doesn't take that long but still, it goes to show that everything happens for a reason.

Guys don't you find it weird that Alex has had 2 offers to go on your with Beyonce yet declined both. Understandable the first due to her xfactor tour commitments. But the second time she was just plain stupid to not take it! Her album had just flopped she was having fight with RCA, it would have been perfect. I don't know if it's just me but some times I feel she's a bit stuck up...rejecting a tour that big could be the downfall of her career.

She was only offered it once? And you can't just sign up to be a support act when new material isn't ready. Alex said herself that it just came at the wrong time.

It's her choice and if she has no other option, what else can she do? If the funding is there, she may be ok. She isn't going to destroy the charts, it's too late, but she can be moderately successful. It depends too, they may have a distribution deal with one of the majors too. Or it may not be true at all.

But it probably is. I do get the vibe she doesn't like to listen to people, but that's her flaw. And if it costs her everything, it's her flaw either way.

Moderate success for me would be having a top 50 single in the US. The thing that worries is me is these new artists utilise social media so much so they have rabid fanbases that's the only thing Alex lacks IMO.

It's not that she doesn't (well she doesn't). She did, but in 2010 the social media madness was not as prevalent, nor for the UK was it important really. It's bigger for US acts. Beyonce was fine without it, so was Pink. But now things have changed. In the US though, once her single is ready, she has to hit TV and then organise shows etc. If her vocal performance is like the Apollo gig, or No More You (but more controlled and not as sore/scratchy) she will turn a head or two. Radio is the gel there though. They need to sort a VEVO deal out and have twice daily instagram posts, and a tumblr and twitter one. Essentially she needs to hire a full on social media guy like Beyonce did. If anyone is followed by her, please communicate that to her.

I agree. She needs a strong fanbase or strong casual support. The ideal is to have a bit of both though.

The AC market is very powerful as well. Once you have their support they will go out and buy buy buy. I saw it with Tamar, she got the urban/AC market on side and whole church groups were going out to the stores to buy her album, if they believe in the artist they will buy.

The pop market is different because it relies heavily on a strong fanbase, and because of the way Billboard is, a strong online presence is needed. If Alex is going to have any kind of success, she needs to get working on that.

I hope she doesn't sign anywhere with JoJo. The only way to go is a major label because they have all the right connections and can sort out her VEVO, and get her fixed up. That is really what she needs right now, as I don't think she is ready for America yet. A lot needs to be put in place, and I'm not sure she knows that. Maybe another Twitter rant is needed from the fans.

I've been tracking Fifth Harmony's progress on radio and they've just cracked the top thirty POP airplay chart with Miss Movin' But it's the dedication of their fanbase that's really impressed me. Radio stations usually have scheduled countdowns and Harmonizers usually tweet, call in and text requests on for example KIIS Bufallo's Hot 4 at 4 and Q102 Philly's Hot 5 at 5. As well as this really anyone in that fandom can start a trend and others will join in and in a matter of minutes it'll be trending. But with Alex Tweamburke has to start a trend for it to be actually trending. I think if you're going to launch in the US you really need a strong fanbase behind you. Alex doesn't have that yet because she's not well known in the US, which is why some sort of buzz single needs to be sent to Radio Stations and if it takes off than she can release it properly...i.e film a video.

Yup. I agree completely. That's what I meant about the UK AC scene and trying it here. I wasn't on about being a balladeer, but she was selling herself short. You've got to have the people there waiting for the product.

She has the skills, potential and star quality there. That isn't the issue. She just has to DO it.

Fans are extremely important, especially in America as UK fans won't be able to call and text in to all the radio stations across the country. This is why I've always said Alex needs to get a first single together and do a statewide tour to get her name out there. Even if she's just performing at clubs/small gigs and radio stations, it's a start and will begin the process.

I hope she's not just expecting to put out music there because it will just fail. The American market is totally different and songs can take months and months to smash if they do at all. I think Cher Lloyd started in March/April and she didn't find success until July and that was with a very good promo schedule and radio adds.

Bonnie McKee released her single in July and while it's doing great on radio and in the iTunes top 100 now, it still hasn't built up yet, so it's a long long process. I just hope Alex is properly prepared because it's unlikely she will get a second chance at it.
