Alex really needs to get the style right for the campaign. It can't be ratchet if she's leading with a ballad but she can't look older than 30. I think the hairstyle she had in the X Factor final would be a great choice. No one else that famous has hair like that at the moment. Beyonce is blonde, Rihanna is straight and short...

No More You sounds promising. I worry that her new album mightn't be mainstream enough though for the charts.

NMY sounds mainstream, AC, yet slightly r&b to me. The album needs to sell on its value. Her singles and promo will make it a mainstream album. I agree about the template for ballads though, although I like NMY as opposed to TS, it's less generic.

I don't think 'The Silence' was catchy at all. It wouldn't have gone top 20 if it wasn't for Alex's popularity/X Factor around that time. Radio weren't touching it because it wasn't pop enough. The instrumental put me off TS to be honest. It sounded like generic Tedder - even though he didn't produce it. One of the main things I like about NMY is the instrumentation.

I think if it had replaced BH, it would've peaked where BH did, and helped her album stay in the top 20. Let's just hope KWL do right by her. And if NMY is anything to go by, they really might just.

Just reading through the thread and my (probably unpopular) opinion on 'shine' and 'NMY' is that, worst case scenario, NMY would be the single choice and best case scenario, neither. I just don't think either stand out enough or have single quality, most certainly not as a launch single for a new artist anyway. Of course, Kevin and Jojo have boatloads of experience between them and we're just going to have to trust them but honestly, I think the snippets just sound a bit dull and like they are not playing to Alex's strengths. This is why I would have preferred at least a mid-tempo song or preferably, an uptempo 'crazy in love' or 'one-thing' type song that would showcase her singing and dancing talents whilst maintaining the flexibility to switch it down to an acoustic version that will showcase her vocals. Even when Alex sang 'Listen' and to a lesser extent, 'hallelujah' on xfactor, it was so charged it made people pay attention. These snippets sound like expertly & technically perfect sung songs but nothing else.
I am holding out hope that these are just snippets and opinions could change when whole song(s) premiers. But my honest opinion, I am worried that it will not be enough to make people sit up and pay attention when she hits the US.
