I would like to ask an honest questions re pr for the twins:
Do the handful of fans (prob 8 max, but 3-4 hardcore) genuinely believe in their hearts that by posting over-the-top reviews (blogs), commenting (often multiple times disguised as separate accounts) on each article written by non-fans, and calling out the dogs on anyone who happens to write, tweet anything negative about the twins, they are actually helping J&E in the long term?
It used to be that a google search would turn up quite a few articles about the twins... some good, some bad, complete with honest comments... again, some good, some bad. Now a search only turns up blogs from different 'publications' which all have exactly the same article, written by exactly the same author, commented on by exactly the same people.
Are these fans convinced that by filling a 'good' publicity void they are 'generating hype'? Do they hope that someone, somewhere will suddenly discover the twins and whisk them away to international stardom? Do they really think that the 'someone, somewhere', who would have to have enough business savvy to 'whisk', wouldn't be savvy-enough to see through the false reviews, the false accounts?
These days, whenever an interviewer mentions J&E's Crazy Fans, it's not in an ironic way... they really do mean CRAZY. And that's a pity, because it's really only a handful of fans, who have too much time on their hands, that make ALL of the fans look deranged.
The thing is, the twins are now forced to rely on these types of sham tactics re pr. They even encourage them through their fake dog account. So my question remains: is this really a good long-term strategy? In fact, is this even a good short-term strategy? Does it do more harm than good?
