You should be saying all this over on the Eurovision forum, you'd get more of a reaction over there
Well, I don't really care about Eurovision... I care about the twins' careers. But hey, forgive me for posting.

I watched Eurovision on Saturday and was thinking of the fond memories of their couple of years entering, and how well they did! Do you think there's a chance they will represent Ireland again next year? They have done disastrously everytime without them. I think they have either been last place or not qualified at all. Their best success in recent years was with Jedward. Please have them back!!

I have no problem with you posting, I was just making the point that this thread is pretty dead!

I tried to watch it but to me it was just one dreary song after another so I had to give up.

Much as I would love to see Jedward there again, somehow it would seem a bit awkward, for them and for Ireland doing it a third time. Like saying Ireland are so short of talent that they have to keep sending the same act?

I actually enjoyed ESC this year... the participants seemed to be taking things much more seriously... which I think is a good thing. The staging/production was absolutely phenomenal.

Re J&E doing it again... I agree w/ you... but I just have a feeling they're going to try it, so I was offering an alternative way for them to engage their fans in the actual selection of their entry.

The Teen Choice Awards are huge. So I find myself wondering why they contacted J&E.

Like, at first look, there's no way J&E could possibly win the Choice Music Next Big Thing category.

The only thing I can come up with is a) they're teasing J&E and their fans (which has happened before), or b) J&E might have actually hired a manager to promote them in the States.

I'm hoping for the latter, but I fear it's the former.

It's just the boys self nominating themselves as far as I can see? Can you post a link as to where have the choice awards contacted them as I can't find it? Cheers

They tweeted it from one of their dog's accounts They said:

"Teen choice messaged us make sure your fans nominate you! Just ask them to tweet #ChoiceMusicNextBigThing + Jedward!"

Of course we don't know how many other acts Teen Choice also sent that message to, but it's good that they thought Jedward were possible candidates for the next big thing anyway!

Judging by the amount of mega-spamming that's going on, they could be in with a chance of getting in the top 4 nominated for that category. Normally I'm not keen on fans spamming like that, but as John and Edward asked us to do it, and fans of other acts are doing it too, I guess it's OK this time? We'll just have to put up with unreadable twitter timelines until next Sunday!

I didn't realize how much controversy surrounded these 'awards'...

Via Wikipedia:

Controversy and allegations of rigging

On August 11, 2014, Vine star Cameron Dallas tweeted that the awards ceremony was "rigged", saying that he had been informed six days prior to the actual event that he had won the award, and the runners-up were told to still try to solicit votes from their followers, even though the results had already been decided. He also tweeted "So I found out that the Teen Choice Awards were rigged and used powerful internet people for marketing. I'm sad now. Television is stupid" before deleting the tweets, saying he "should have taken the high road", but he "didn't like the fact that [his fans] were being lied to".[2] Soon after Dallas' initial tweets, fellow Viner Carter Reynolds stated that the Teen Choice Awards had "used everyone for promotion", using the hashtag "#TeensDontHaveAChoiceAwards", which soon began trending by fans who noticed the disclaimer at the end of the show saying that the producers reserved the right to choose the winners, asking what was the point of voting if their votes were ultimately worthless. Reynolds also later deleted his tweet.[3][4][5]

Fans of One Direction also noticed that the band's clothes while accepting the award for "Choice Music Group" were the same as the ones they were wearing to the launch of their fragrance in New York on August 5, despite this being before the votes officially ended (the original closing time for voting was August 10 at 11:59 p.m).[6]

The voting rules page[7] states "Teenasaurus Rox reserves the right to choose the winner from the top four vote generators".[8]

From Perez Hilton's blog:

Check out the fine print on the Teen Choice Awards' web site. It describes how producers actually hand-pick whom they want from the list of nominees! The rules for voting states:

"Winners for the Teen Choice Awards are determined using the votes cast on the Site. Votes are tabulated electronically and winners are determined based on the nominees in each category with the highest number of eligible votes. Teenasaurus Rox reserves the right to choose the winner from the top four vote generators."

So fans aren't actually picking the winners at all! From what we can tell, it boils down to who the producers can get to be there and who they can't!

The celebs that show up get their surfboards, and the stars who can't make it, regardless of how many votes they garner, get nothing!

It says they producers pick the winner out of the top 4 vote generators so it's not a complete waste of time voting.

The rigging stuff is disappointing, but 1D were probably miles ahead anyway, don't know about the other guy.

I'm sure they wouldn't have any trouble persuading John and Edward to make themselves available to collect their surfboard anyway!

so, like, how does this work? If it's the Teen Choice awards, then how can everyone, regardless of age, vote?

I'm so confused.

ps... I think it's so nice that everyone has really tried hard for this nomination. I'm sure the twins are so happy and the TCA staff are well-impressed. Great job, everyone!

I wish the twins and their mom would finally stop listening to whoever it is that's been giving them advice for the past 2 yrs.

This latest request by J&E for fans' twitter log-in information/email addresses is actually quite alarming.

We've gone thru this before when J&E requested private info for their proposed mag... remember the JedMag Dude?

The twin's website is, due to its lack of info, doing them a great amount of harm. They had a fantastic fan website, but blew up the relationship. Now there's only the planetjedward site and JWN... which is really just for promotion.

Surely the twins have figured out by now that the strategy employed over the past 2 yrs. has basically blown up in their faces.

1) the bottom has dropped out of their twitter followers numbers because they no longer use it as it should be used... to give fans fun insights into their experiences, etc.

2) their official website is childish compared to JedGen... there's absolutely no info on it.

3) they've set up twitter dog accounts for some strange reason... it's like a secret club, only it's not secret?

4) gosh... the list goes on... and I don't want to talk about 'merch' because I'm still upset by the powerbands and jedsaws. So Stupid!

Whoever has been coming up with these ideas and passing them on to the twins' mom, needs to ask themselves: Are you doing this to really promote the twins (cuz the proof ain't in your pudding), are you doing this to promote yourself to the twins?

that's a big difference... and you need to think about it... because the past couple of years have been an absolute nightmare for everyone except you.

I feel so sorry for J&E... it's been a long time coming, but it's still difficult to watch.

It's horrible that they somehow thought that they could counter the wind... we all believe this, somehow,... but the chances of this happening are quite small.

It's so nice that they have arranged to meet fans in airports. Sad, but nice.

Maybe things aren't that bad - their performance at Blackpool Pride today went down very well by all accounts, and they've just announced their next single "Oh Hell No", the theme song for Sharknado 3 no less!

The airport tour is unorthodox and a bit surprising, but maybe they just want to do something nice for their European fans who have stayed loyal since Eurovision. I don't really get why some people think it's a sign that their career is dying.

"New Single Artwork for Jedward - Oh Hell No! Out July 22nd 2015 WorldWide " ... I hope this does mean that it will actually be used in the movie as the theme song... that would be fantastic!

I think the reason many of the Day One fans are concerned (& have been for over 2 yrs) is that we saw the twins go from strength to strength for quite a while... tours, guest appearances, ESC, more tours, tv shows... but, ever since Waterline, things have been dwindling. There hasn't been any meaningful forward progress.

I had hoped they would find someone in the States to promote them... which was why I found the Teen Choice thingy interesting.

Like I said, I think the airport whatever is sweet... but it's also bittersweet. I feel the same about it as I did about the Christmas Intimate concerts... I was and am happy for the fans who get to participate, but I'm concerned that it's not really a good strategy in terms of forward progress.

You can listen to a preview of Oh Hell No here:

And there's an article about the airport tour on wiwibloggs by our old friend SecretPassage (aka Robyn Gallagher):

Does anyone still read this thread who would like to hear about the Jedhug Airport tour?
Or has anyone else visited an airport to meet the twins recently and would like to share?
I'd like a read.

It sounds like everyone was really happy so, yes, I'd enjoy hearing more about it.

btw, I don't post on those anon sites... never have, never will. I don't even look at them because I think they're a complete waste of time.

I don't post much anymore, but do still read this thread!

With regards to what seems to have happened the last 2 years, I do feel somewhat baffled. 2009-early 2013: Everything was going so well. Sure, they were not being taken seriously as a music act (and bullied on late night shows), but they were becoming more and more well known and liked. Big Brother won them lots of fans, Eurovision was a success, their Tv interviews were hilarious..etc. But most of all, the fan support was so strong mostly because of their JedwardTV videos. If you watch them from before 2012, they were really funny, entertaining and showed a great insight into their relationship.

Then all of a sudden, it just all stopped. Couldn't believe that they let JedGen go without a fight. They stopped posting videos and all TV work vanished including Jedward's big adventure. My gut feeling is that they made a conscious decision to become serious musicians, which explains why they cut out all the TV shows which portrayed them as funny TV personalities (rather than singers). AND explains why they left Louis Walsh, who maybe didn't want them to write their own music.

But what it doesn't explain is why they have stopped posting videos and all the daytime TV/radio work or any of the other stuff.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5o6Cu027AzQ

I watched this interview with the Irish Sun they did recently and it wasn't until right at the end that John said something revealing (after having answered a lot of questions really seriously- he came across very thoughtful and intelligent actually). Edward said that everybody thought Louis Walsh was their manager but in actual fact it was Susanna Condron. He didn't mention this was his mother, until the interviewer said 'that's your mum'. Edward then says yes. Then Ken laughs and John adds that Justin Beiber and Taylor Swift's mums are doing really well.

To me, this says that they know full well that people perceive their mother being their manager as a poor decision, but also that they really seem to believe she can do a good job.

And you haven't been banned from this forum either unlike some of the 'tacky' ones

Also is posting here doing the twins any good? Doesn't seem to stop you...
oh... holy heck... I just saw this. (I had scrolled back to find the excellent 4th of July fireworks display I had posted...lol)

I wasn't banned from the secret forum... I committed suicide because I didn't think it was a positive environment.

and, yeah, I think posting here is legit. At least the posts here are somehow honest and rather productive.

All y'all do on the secret forum is cry about how you can't, like, meet the twins continuously... and that if any fans posted pics w/ J&E, it made you so, so sad... lol.

The secret forum was so totally ****ing depressing and creepy.

BIB... I think it's really nice that their mom agreed to step in and help them out, but I also think enough time has passed that J&E can probably feel secure to hire a real manager.

Their mom has gotten them through the storm, so to speak.

Hey @Lonely smile nice some other people do still read this thread evern tho it has gone quiet. I don't really understand why they stopped with the Jedward TV video etc either.

They did seem happy to see people in these trips. Don't think there really is a career promo agenda with this airport tour. Seems they really do want to just have in real life chats with their people.

So it was lovely, but in light of certain comments I have decided I won't be sharing any details here after all sorry about that.
