Just thinking, they dont usually go all out for a characters family coming in at a funeral. Though didnt they do this in emmerdale when a relative showed up of someone who was murdered ? I hope theyre not copying that

I do think Shirley is alive but bringing in family after a character has died is not unheard of in EastEnders. The best example is David Wicks showing up at Pete Beale's funeral. They never shared any scenes together. There were also the short lived relatives of Ethel who were introduced after her death.

I couldnt see them doing it for shirl though. Shes not that big surely?

Characters returning for a funeral does not have anything to do with size of character.

I'm certain she's alive. That was a crap exit for her. There's no way they'd let that be it. if it was her last scene I'd hope more effort would have been put into it to make it look scary.

SHIRLEY LIVES!!!!

Most likely bring her in looking for Shirley, people mention she's gone abroad but she finds out otherwise.

With Jean gone there's no one to suspect she didn't go.

Thinking about it, it was highly unbelievable Shirley would just up sticks and move abroad when she'd got back on good terms with Carly and her grand kid.

But look at what they did in emmerdale - they brought in a relative as they hadnt heard from the person in weeks. Its a similar type of situation

It's a well worn plot device. Emmerdale's use was hardly original.

I challenge you to find any simple scenario in any soap that hasn't already been done. They've been going forever.

I would like to see Shirley with a family member. I don't think she's dead. Carl probably has her in a lock up somewhere.

Nah I don't think she's dead either. EE would be stupid to let Linda Henry go, as soon as the character has some direction (Like, her sister) then they can start to utilize her more.

I think they are doing a Denise sort twist. When we saw Lucas strangle her we were led to believe she had died - Shirley will turn up in about 3 weeks, tied up and bruised probably!

I doubt it Newman wrecked Shirley like she has done with Sharon.

I think a possible Tina casting would be DTC as he is a big Shirley fan.
