She is definitely up there in my top 10 and I can't think of either 'no nekkid jacuzzi' or her mangling Pie Jesu gospel stylee without grinning my head off!

Jon Tickle said at the time on this website that she was getting empathy from people who didn't understand her at all, which I agreed with.

When she actually left the house though she got cheered so I think people could appreciate what a good housemate she was, but had just seen enough of her by the time she left. Wasn't it the wedding task that lost it for her too? If I remember correctly she threw some kind of strop because her and Stuart weren't picked as the ones to get married and viewers turned on her after that. ”

Yeah, I was a Michelle fan but things started going wrong during the wedding task. The slight 'bunny boiler' qualities that had previously amused viewers suddenly became over-bearing as she was desperate to be the bride and pestered Stu all the time to be her groom. Not to mention practically dragging him under the table that night to take their relationship a step further. She even made herself a mock wedding dress and pretended to be a bride outside of the task.
I thought that was the end of it, but then the next task came, where Stuart was chained to Shell, and she was constantly moaning at him and making everyone feel uncomfortable.
I was watching it through my fingers like "STOP MICHELLE!" as I knew she was digging herself into a hole and was practically forcing people to evict her.

Yeah Nadia's popularity was immense. Probably the most popular winner after Brian D. I mean almost 4 million people voted her to win. Which is just incredible.

Marco leaving was possibly the best thing to happen for her as she took center stage in the overall house dynamics after that. The Lipgloss Bitches looked to be on the outs of the house after they'd all been put up for eviction, but after Marco had gone Nadia started bonding with Dan and Shell, while Michelle ensured that Stuart was part of their group too. This suddenly left Jason, Victor and Ahmed on the outs.
Nadia was like the glue that held the main group together, she was sometimes the entertainer and other times she was the main audience when others wanted to entertain. It kind of became The Nadia Show.

I wouldn't know. I was over on the old Channel 4 Forums back then ..... Ahh those good old days

(I know I joined in 2005 but I only came for a peek over here if something on here was mentioned over there )

& for what it's worth: I didn't like Nadia ... I wanted Dan Bryan to win that year

At times her laugh was funny and some of the things she said in her voice was comical.

What i didn't like was that the JC's were being painted as the bad guys alot when it was clear the Nadia was a nasty piece of work at times (and Emma & Marco could be), especially without tobacco and would take an aggressive stance and tone with Jay & Vic, if they verbally responded, they were called all the bullies under the sun.

I agree. I could not stand her screeching voice, her constant whining and complaining, her bitchiness at the guys, you name it. She just annoyed me and I could not understand why she was so popular.

I need to go rewatch that season. BB was so great in those days.

I couldn't stand her. Michelle was a brilliant HM but the rest of the so called lipgloss bitches were a nightmare

Nadia was a rude, selfish, spiteful, screeching harpy. The only week I vaguely liked her was when she was tied to Dan but then I loved Dan and I think she shone because of him.
Marco and Emma were just hideous imo. Even after all of these years, they are probably my 2 most disliked HMs of all time. Everything about them annoyed the hell out of me and I think Emma would have been removed pretty quickly if she was a HM these days

I agree.

IMO it was a bad idea to put her in the bedsit because there was something 'not quite right' about Emma - I remember distinctly thinking that about her.

Hard to describe (hope I get some help here) but something along the lines of her mental age not seeming to track with her actual age?

To me, it seemed to be something other than just being rather thick

Ooooh I'm glad i wasn't on this forum for BB5 then because I loved the lip-gloss bitches and didn't like the jungle cats at all. Well I was ok with vic but disliked him in association with the very awful Jason. I liked Nadia a lot for her bravery and the latino temperament too, lol but as i say i wasn;t on this forum then.

A few people have mentioned how they hated to see Nadia when there was no tobacco and since BB5 I believe smokers have been offered nicotine substitutes in times of no fags as is only right as they are suffering serious withdrawals. I can't remember whether the BB5 lot were offered such things but I can say as an ex smoker who was very heavily addicted that there's nothing worse than no ciggies in times of great stress.

Nadia's grumpiness could only ever be associated with lack of cigarettes, there doesn't seem to be any other examples of it when she was her normal self.
Jason's bitchiness about her remained most of the time, though he bitched about Dan and Shell alot too, hence why the JCs were the bad guys. Nothing to do with editing to be honest.

100% agree.

She was one of the most unpleasant HMs I have ever seen on BB.
Completely and inexplicably over-rated.

Nadia was heavily protected by the production team of BB5, her behaviour was quite atrocious at times. In UBB, her character was exposed for all to see. A classic case of karma in my books.

Can't have been that protected. I mean I would watch live feed as much as I could, and for many of the later weeks most of the group was all together in the same place. Where Nadia was usually the life and soul of the party.

UBB was a disappointment, in almost every way possible, but fortunately most people who watched BB5 had stopped watching by then so have no idea what happened. lol They still remember Nadia as one of the best housemates ever.

I wasn't a massive Nadia fan and remember being vaguely surprised when I learned she was favourite to win. Dan and Michelle were my favourites.

Once it became clear neither of my faves were going to win, I did want Nadia to win over Jason... But only cos I couldn't stand Jason and his miserable grumpy face lol

As would most of the BB5 housemates if they behaved the way they did back then.

I disagree there. Live feed was pretty prominent in BB5 and if they were going to protect her back then surely they'd protect her during UBB when they knew the eviction crowd would be screaming transphobic comments at her. She was just a different person going into UBB. From day one she just seemed miserable and not happy to be there. I'm not sure why she went in in the first place, she obviously got paid a sizeable amount.

I knew Nadia would win at the start as *we the viewers" knew about her being transgender and the housemates did not, (in the begining) so if any of the housemates asked her an innocent question for e.g., about her time of the month, (I think the girls were disscussing that,) then people watching would think, oh that's a shame, or, imagine asking her that, and getting all indignant on her behalf. Not saying thats how she won, its just my opinion.

Well in the absence of me having a Scooby how or why she won -sounds like a good enough reason

I didn't dislike her, but I also didn't really understand the obsession with her either.

In my opinion, they portrayed her aggressive and confrontational side in far too positive a light, yet Jason and Victor were made out to be evil incarnate for similar transgressions. Whenever she got angry, the satellite shows treated it as something hilarious, when really it could be quite intimidating and scary.

In BB5, she managed to form a clique for herself, and blasted those who weren't in it or whoever she talked to in the diary room that didn't listen to her demands. I'm afraid Nadia will always be one of my least favourite winners. Still love BB5 though!

I don't remember that.
I remember Jason and Victor constantly moaning about them though. Plus Victor admitted he was impressed the way Nadia had gone from losing her no.1 ally to winning Dan and Shell over.
I think the clique involving Nadia, Dan, Shell, Michelle and Stu was possibly the most positive one I've ever watched. Always laughing and full of humorous banter and naughtiness, while the JC's sat in bed with Dan and Shell pleading with them to join in and getting spurned.
