Not sure but it seems its not compatible with your phone doing a quick google. It will be soon though. They have updated the app the other day to add more devices.

Surely if it wasn't compatible with my phone, the Google Play Store wouldn't allow me to download/install it.

According to this page on the official Blackberry support forums . . .

Quote:
“BBM for Android is supported on Android devices running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and later and with a screen size of 7” or less.
”

My phone has a 4 inch screen, and the Android version number is 4.1 ... so it should be compatible.

Yeah, i was just thinking that.

I would perhaps try to uninstall and reinstall it and see what happens.

I did ... twice! First from the Play Store app on my phone, and secondly via the Play Store website on my PC.

No wonder Blackberry is heading down the corporate gurgler if they can't even get this right!

It's not bbm it's a problem on your end. I've had bbm on my iPhone since day one and not had a problem. Same for friends with android phones they've had no problem either.

How exactly is this a problem at my end? All the other internet apps on my phone manage to connect via Wi-Fi, so
there is no reason at all for BBM to be any different. It's still an internet app, so it should use whatever connection
is enabled for internet access, and on my phone, that's Wi-Fi. There is nothing in the official BBM FAQ that says
it specifically requires mobile data. Why should I use up my PAYG credit to setup an internet app?

You shouldn't need to but i would try it to see.

I did mine over wifi and it was ok. The Mrs did her S3 on wifi. Seems it doesn't want to work on the ace 2 though according to google.

In the official Blackberry support, other forumers keep suggesting that I must have a mobile data connection
to complete the setup, which contradicts the official FAQ that says any form of network connection is OK.
