Basically I need a new phone and have like two months left on my iPhone 4s contract... on EE

I was thinking of buying out my contract and moving to three....and getting the htc one

the htc one is kinda old now so i was maybe thinking of waiting for the next htc one?

HTC are heading for troubled waters if their last accounts are to be believed (and why wouldn't you?) and as the HTC One hasn't been the sales juggernaut it deserved to be I am expecting some killer cut price deals on SIM free within the next couple of months.

It's a good question. If the doom mongerers are right and HTC may not even exist in the medium term future, what happens with support? Personally I would wait and see what the Google Nexus 5 is like. There are no immediate worries about that company's survival that I can see lol.

if I was you I would just get the HTC One. its such an excellent phone. its beautiful, fast and works well and the screen is not major huge like the S4. its perfect and I have it on Three which is even better with unlimited data!

Just get the htc one you wont be disappointed

Does that make it a bad phone?

I've had HTC phones for years...going back to when Orange were putting them out as SPV. HTC One is, imo, their best phone yet and the best mobile I've ever used.

Where exactly did I say it was a bad phone?? This is what I said:

and as the HTC One hasn't been the sales juggernaut it deserved to be. I am expecting some killer cut price deals on SIM free within the next couple of months.
Is this rationale wrong given the thread title is:

get the htc one or wait?

I agree with post 4. HTC One is a great phone but there is uncertainty around HTC as a company and the Nexus 5 should be a barnstormer of a phone by improving the camera and battery.

It can't be long given Google's recent 80 price cut on the Nexus 4 and the fact that the 8GB version has now been OOS for a couple of weeks now and stocks won't be replenished.

Only rumours at the moment but worth a read:

http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-...t-says-report/

I reckon a similar spec to the LG G2 without the imo silly rear buttons.

I've had 2 HTC phones in the past , and they have both died before the end of their contract life.

So I won't ever buy another . But that's just me .

The Nexus direct from Google attempts to render restrictive 24 month contracts obsolete (and they really should be anyway) by allegedly selling the phone at cost price so if you can't afford to buy a phone outright it's not worth considering to be honest as the networks don't adopt the same approach. If you can buy a high end phone for 300 and pair it with one of the huge number of fantastic 30 day commitment SIM only deals starting at nowt I just don't see the point of a 24 month contract that is almost guaranteed to experience 2 increase personally. but each to their own.

i fully agree. if the nexus 5 gets good reviews and costs less than 300 i would deffo but it sim free and then go on a sim only deal with three. i agree there is no point being stuck on a 24 month contract with a phone that costs 300 or less

obviously when the handset costs 500, thats when a contract becomes more needy

I've a nexus 4 and the only thing I found budget about it was the price. So worth checking it when we have more confirmed details.

Nice one. if the Nexus 5 does come in at 300 then that equates to 12.50/mth over 24 months. Even the 30 day One Plan with all you can eat data (including tethering), 2000 mins, 5000 texts, 5000 3 to 3 mins and free upgrade to 4G when available is only 18/mth (15/mth if you are happy to accept a 12 month commitment) so effectively the total monthly price is as low as 27.50/mth. Killer deal.

Current trend will put it at 280 to 300 for the 16GB model. It would undercut the current S4 and HTC One price by about 100 (although the One has 32GB storage).

Surely at less than/around 300 the 'undercut' would be closer to 200 than 100?

It's not a budget phone, it has just had a price cut (due to the N5) - review

Even at the original price and at the time it was released it was a high end phone at a mid market price, basically. I expect the N5 to follow suit but time will tell.

so its better to buy it outright then go on a sim only deal with three for 15 a month

tbh i wanted a phone for mainly listening to my itunes collection as i travel to uni etc...but i have chosen to buy a separate ipod mainly because the batteries on these phones dont last long so me listening to music constantly and browsing may give me only 1/2 a day of usage

I would not go for HTC. I have been put off them after having an HTC Desire S for just under 2 years that I got rid of almost 9 weeks ago due to signal problems now and again.
I even know two others that had an HTC Wildefire S and an HTC Selsa and had similar problems as me and have now since got rid of there HTC.
The Nexus 4 is one of the best phones I have ever had so far.
