....so, she's just doing to pretend it didn't happen once it's over? Delete it from her memory?

She commented: "We've got a wonderful new
guv'nor who's gone in, who's lovely. Because
it's in a bit of a state, the show, at the moment.
It's not getting there. We're third - oh

I actually think it was Kirkwood who Babs despised.

I'm beginning to come up with a conspiracy that Channel 4 paid for him to ruin the show, it's strange how he just walked right back into a job there.

None of the cast appeared to like him.

Not forgetting she quit as soon as he joined!

Don't forget they didn't thank him at the soap awards either and we know Sam Womack quit because the baby swap was too much for her to handle. Yet its evident from all her recent interviews and the fact she is back on screen that she loves the show dearly.

It does seem to look like the cast didn't like him much.

I'm not 100% convinced he was doing his best for the show.
I remember being very excited and thinking EE was going to get better when it was announced he was joining - his stint on HO was great but boy was I wrong!

Can't say I blame them. The show in general was in pretty good shape, after the live show.

The idiot thought baby swap was actually a good idea

well if helps any there are many Hollyoaks fan on the forum who seem very unhappy with the decisions he has been making with their soap.

But hollyoaks isn't a serious threat to eastenders so If anyone had paid kirkwood to destroy the show it would of been ITV

And anyway Newman was just as bad if not worse than kirkwood and that would mean the bbc themselves wanted to destroy the show

So many conspiracy theories

I think Santer paid BK to destroy the show. He wanted to be missed!

On reflection when Santer left then the BBC should have appointed Newman as I bet then her era would have been deemed a bigger success, after the sensationalism and hype of Santer Newman's more calming influence would of been better received also no way would she have done the baby swap plot and killed off Pat either which were 2 of Kirkwood's biggest mistakes.

I understood that Lorraine Newman was a kind of interim producer until a more permanent one could be found. I'm probably in the minority here that thinks she did a decent job. She certainly has roots in the show after having worked on EE for about twenty years.

The baby swap was a good s/l. Better than another affair or love triangle.

There must have been good reasons why they decided to kill off Pat. Pat St Clement was nearly 70 when she left so she would have only probably came back for very short stints anyway, if at all. Plus they gave her a very good exit, better than any off screen death.
