Media Guardian reports today that E4 will be free to view by the end of the year

Media Guardian

This is excellent news, as long as they keep the BB streaming

BB7 won't though

If C4 do end BB they will have to replace it with something similar, it's one of their (if not the) top rating programme of the year

You do have to register, they don't use your e mail adress for anything else, I registered about a year ago, there are some interesting BB related articles on there

Here's copy and paste of the first part of the article:

Channel 4 is planning to make E4, its main entertainment channel, free to air as early as the end of this year.

If carried out, the decision will have implications for pay-television groups such as BSkyB and cable networks NTL and Telewest. At present, E4 is also available as part of a package offered by Top-Up TV for Freeview viewers.

Making E4 free to air was described as a "longer term" ambition by C4 yesterday. However, the company is understood to have earmarked the end of this year as a possible date for all digital viewers to be able to watch the channel, which currently offers early showings of popular shows such as Desperate Housewives. One executive said it was "not if, but when".

After that then they had better do something with the Internet feed as people won't pay for almost the same thing that they can get free!

Bring back at least 2 feeds and the DR footage and uncensored (IE swaring and keeping it for the highlights show sound and vision cuts) - in fact all the things they promise and don't deliver - and people may pay extra for it.

No Extras - No Extra payments!

Snap!

It's the only channel worth subscribing to... and that's only because of Big Brother.

I did! - But apart from lack of adverts, you don't get half of what they promise.

Plus it crashes my PC every 15 mins or so!

Wasn't there a rumour a year or so ago that Channel 4/Endemol wanted the Big Brother stream to be PPV on Digital TV so that the swearing didn't have to be edited out during the day...

It makes sense.. can your really see Endemol/C4 give something away for free that they could quite realistically charge an even greater premium for.

This will be a god send. Im using an FTV card and recently ITV 2 was added to the list of channels. This is handy for IACGMOOH live streaming and i'm sure E4 will be viewable with an FTV card come the end of the year.
I can't see it going fully FTA as it were but at least i wont have to book a place by the TV all day and all night when it comes to BB7, ill be able to watch it on my digibox with FTV card.
