1000 stores are getting stock. The letter about the 20% discount stated "once it's gone, it's gone" indicating finite stock.

I think it's called Hudl ("Huddle") because the idea is that it's a tablet for the family. Mum can use it for her online shop and checking clubcard balance, kids can use it to play angry birds, and dad can use it to check the football scores. Everyone can use it to watch movies on the go ect too. The Tablet itself doesnt have Tesco branding except for the app widget stuff - so I guess they are trying to establish this as a brand slightly distanced from the Tesco name (avoiding the stigma of having a supermarket tablet)”

I saw a tesco fresh and easy in US and bore little resemblance to UK tesco we love
Do not really twig hudl and huddle, based on your analogy it should be called something like 'share'
One of my neighbours is a Manager of a large Tesco store nearby and he told me loads are asking in the store to buy the hudl, looks to be popular

FWIW:

"Hudl is a product and service of Agile Sports Technologies, Inc. - a Lincoln, Nebraska based company providing tools for coaches and athletes to review game footage to improve team play."

"Huddle House is a chain of 24-hour diner-style restaurants with over 430 locations in over 21 states, primarily found in Southern United States."

Apart from on the back where it says the Tesco name?

Another 'test the water' launch then, if it sells well then I expect there will be another version next year...

It looks like it will also be available via Tesco Direct. Doing a search on there results in an introductory announcement page. I won't post the link to that page because it appears to contain individual session information.

Tesco have posted a promotional video on YouTube:
http://youtu.be/xCzmQ036N0A
Possibly interesting that it has a Belgian top-level domain name in that URL? The video is in English though.

I found a safe link to the Hudl page on Tesco Direct:
http://www.tesco.com/direct/hudl

That video is the official video that has been there since day one and listed on the tesco.com/hudl page as their unboxing video and was the video shown to the press on launch.

youtu.be is the share url used for youtube

Supposedly it is an Archos but I imagine it will be Archos as middle man and doing the tech support.

Much of the design appears to have come from the soon to be defunct Nook HD, maybe allowing the Juxi factory to continue producing. BT4, HDMI and GPS certainly makes it far superior to the HD.

My local Tesco has a promotional stand with one on display. Had a quick play and seemed fine for the price, well made and nice display.

Reckon it'll be a good seller.

At the full price (£119) it's only £70 cheaper than the new Nexus 7..is that enough to encourage people to go over to Tesco ? I guess if they can trim it down to £99 off the shelf, they may be on to a winner, but the Nexus has established a big following and always gets positive reviews.

Looks good to me. I'll be buying one as soon as it's available.

That's why the clubcard boost option exists though, get the tablet for a nice £60 - which is better than any discount Tesco will be able to offer in the next 6 months on the tablet. £119 is competitive enough - but £60 blows the rest of the market out the water (bar cheapy chip chinese tablets)

Though handilly Tesco have ensured that if you want that discount, you better have spent lots of cash with them in the past year or two (and held them clubcard vouchers!). So bit win, win - Tesco already technically get the money they lose on "Boost" Hudl sales

Maybe nicer than continually seeing someone poking an on screen keyboard with the one free hand.

All the store managers (that's about 1500) got a free Hudl at their conference. Hope they left some for us minions. I played with one today at work, it's great. Lovely big screen & really fast on Tesco WiFi.

Only?

If someone told me a month ago that I could goto Tesco for some eggs, bacon and a tablet which beats my original Nexus 7 for specs, I'd be laughing my head off.

Unless Tesco screw up big time, then they won't be able to sell these fast enough at Xmas.

It's now listed on Tesco Direct (apologies if it's been there before today, this is the first time I've found it) but all Hudl items are listed as "currently unavailable" at the moment. There's a £10 coupon mentioned on the Tesco Direct home page for orders over £75 and if you're on the online groceries Delivery Saver scheme then you get free deliveries on Tesco Direct. The tablet is confirmed as being £119 and the detail page has a spec listed, but the processor is only described as being "quad-core".

My local Tesco Extra has two out on display but with the displays locked down. Says they launch at 9am on Monday!

Yes before I saw the specs I'd thought it would be a low spec dual core thing. The ones with 800 x 400 resolution that are good value but not exactly in the same league as the Nexus! If the build quality is up to scratch then well done Tesco!

My local Tesco Extra has them on display. Feels exactly like a Kindle Fire.
