This is a great question, I'm going to have to put my thinking cap on and get back to you on this one, but I must say that your choice of 'Stairway to heaven' is an inspired one.

well they do walk up the stairway ,when they finish the dance.

would also like this song for obvious reasons , but not sure what dance it would fit , maybe a Waltz / Tango

Considering my dislike of anything championed by Simon Cowell, I was very moved by Susan boyle's version of Wild Horses.

Only suitable for a rumba by someone with great control

Change the lyrics and let Tony Jacklin dance to Fairway to Heaven

They once did a sixties night on Dancing On Ice, I think it would be a good source of tunes if they did decade themed nights on the show. I imagine Wardrobe would have a field day though

It would be nice to see them walk up the stairs at the end.

You seem like a man to be trusted so I took a chance and clicked on this link, I like this track and I'm sure they could match it up to a suitable dance nicely.

A waltz or viennese waltz to this would be great if they have a singer who's up to it:

Pearly-Dewdrops' Drops : Cocteau Twins

I'm sure the singers would be able to rise to the occasion.

The interpretation of the lyrics would be amusing enough but something tells me there isn't an Elizabeth Fraser soundalike amongst Dave Arch's Wonderful, Wonderful Orchestra.

If anyone dances to Wild Horses I'd rather they took their lead from this cover instead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BiyCkSOF1pc

If we could get back to proper ballroom.
Here's a more recent version of a great old song.

A lot of emotion in this one.

Anything as long as it's proper ballroom! If British classics are considered too old-fashioned, how about looking outside our borders? What about this, for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dt7vdywZGqU

I wish, just wish that for once they'd dance to music written for the dance itself

I know it's a big ask, but it would be so great to hear a samba number for samba, a fabulous waltz for the waltz, real salsa music and one of the hundreds of exquisite argentine tango numbers. It doesn't have to be Canaro or Pugliese, Gotan would suit me just fine but I am sick of hearing Queen!

Yeah, I know the band just couldn't deliver on the above (other than the waltz) but I sometimes wish they'd get rid of the band and just play decent tracks.
