A couple of "oldies" for the American Smooth.
More examples of good bass lines for Trev.

Appropriate ones that were actually in the correct rhythm and tempo for the dance.

Click on the links, Terry, and you'll find out. Doghouse has done the work by finding the clips.

Some very clearly stated and good choices Sam, there is no Agatha Christie Mystery in your post, thank you.

I think that was used by Aliona and Harry Judd a few years ago for Halloween week, though only about three seconds of it was actually in Tango hold. Not that it stopped Alesha from giving it a ten or nuffink.

I fail to see how either of those would fit, but... hey. Someone Rumba-ed to World of Our Own by Westlife.

I've always considered this tune and this version a great Cha-Cha.
Mostly I admit for the great trumpet, clarinet and sax improvisations.

Don't know if this is the original music, but the superb Slaughterhouse Argentine Tango with Vincent D'Onofrio and Mathilda May from 'Naked Tango' directed by Leonard Schrader makes my spine tingle. Doubt that it could be recreated with the same atmosphere on Strictly.

I keep saying I'd like them to theme some decades or music styles rather than these Hallowe'en, Hollywood themes etc.

For the 1960s there'd be loads of potential. "Windmills of Your Mind" would make a gorgeous rhumba (the guy who originally sang that sadly died a few days ago). And dare I say it, a certain Lulu track from Eurovision would make a spot-on VW

Eh?

I think you're just being provocative with those suggestions!

This'd give them something to think about.

Oh Wow! I would love to see them dancing to Lulu, what a great idea, thank you.

Here's a nice old tune, that would suit American Smooth, it might even quieten the audience, as their constant interruptions can get tiring.

Here sung more recently by Janis Seigel of former Manhattan Transfer, one of the better MOR singing groups of the seventies.

Would love to see the song from Chicago 'we both reached for the gun' used for a Charleston. There is a lot of narrative/storytelling in the song so not sure if it would work from that point of view! But still, great for musical week!
