mars Volta, aye? My bro is into them big time but they still kinda creep me out. You ever heard of Fiery Furnaces? Neurotic...but similar in a way.

I don't know what is next. Probably Medeski Martin and Woods latest, my burned copy is getting worn out big time.

I'm waiting for the new album by Emiliana Torrini. I thought it was out on Monday (31/1) but my local Virgin and HMV didn't have it. And nor did iTMS come Tuesday.

Ah! I was listening to Stuart Maconie on 6Music on Sunday and he back-announced a track as being from a Fiery Furnaces singles collection. It was a really poppy song with a female singer, but kind of long-lost-happiness-it's-all-gone-pearshaped - does that sound like them? If you know the band, and that sounds like one of their tracks, can you recommend an album to get?

Bloc Party

Kaiser Chiefs

The Wedding Present (they're back!!!)

And maybe the Midnight Movies LP, which sounds a bit like a cross between Lush / Joy Zipper / My Bloody Valentine

Can't believe no-one's mentioned 'Funeral' by The Arcade Fire. Feckin' brilliant album and I can finally get my own copy when its released in the UK (at last!) on 28th Feb.

Also, couple of singles I want to get are:
Maximo Park - 'Apply Some Pressure' (21st Feb)
New Rhodes - 'You've Given Me Something That I Can't Give Back' (7th Feb)

Also, I'm eagerly awaiting any releases from The Long Blondes. Love that band at the moment.

All these bands should be getting more airplay imho.....
