They'll probably share scenes and initially have a rivalry, but to be honest I'm just happy that there is a link there now. Creating family links like this makes it easier in the future if certain characters want to leave and others want to stay.

So, now that's come out, that means that Ruth is actually Darren's half-sister, am I right? And all of the Roscoe boys are actually Darren's half-brothers?

Yes. And Bethany is still Darren's half-sister as she always was.

I have missed this week HO. What exactly is the history between the Osbournes and the Roscos?

Just knocked this up in MS Paint, hopefully it's clear enough to stop any confusion. I've made it so that full-siblings share a colour. Half-siblings are the ones that share only one parent, so for example the 5 Roscoe Boys are Darren's half-brothers as they share a mother. Ruth and Bethany are still Darren's half-sisters however they are only step-sisters (if that) of the Roscoe boys, as they share no biological parent.

But if Celia found out she was infertile but wanted another baby, Celia could have allowed Jack and Sandy to sleep together to get pregnant, under whatever agreement (money, etc). Celia could still have put her own name on his birth certificate despite this.
Or they could go the deceitful route where Jack and Sandy had an affair, Sandy wasn't ready to bring up a baby (or had just met Alan who didn't want to raise another man's baby?) so Celia effectively adopted him. They don't DNA test or anything for birth certificates. Celia probably just registered Darren's birth in the same way she would have registered Ruth's years before, only as her own. Maybe even the moving to America is involved in it... running away with the baby? Or perhaps going to America to try IVF treatment, or something. I'm sure any loose ends will be cleared up next week. Either way, I think everything will work out like Sonya in Neighbours did... I don't think we'll have another confusing backstory such as the Savage/Blake scenario and what order things happened in with them. |
